I was going to copy some articles, but there are dozens to choose from, both pre and post announcement discussing PV. So folks can pick their favorites (from rags to more legit) Most discuss AW’s statements this week that PV has what it takes to “one day” step in. Shee-itt..... CFG better be working their Rolodex for possible replacements that believe in the same style of attack. The team finally seems comfortable with their breakout routes and zones of movement, and a new system would be a setback.

As far as I can remember the only manager to move from MLS to the Premier League (or any top European league, for that matter) was Bob Bradley. That came with several stops in between and ended in disaster. Vieira is one of the better coaches in MLS, and clearly the most admired, but even with his pedigree and personal connection to the club taking over Arsenal would be a giant leap. I thought the whole idea of him competing with guys like Löw and Ancelotti for the job was hilarious MLS homerism until I saw the betting odds and this tweet—now I'm kind of scared.

I don't think PV is the best tactical manager in MLS (probably top 5, but a notch below Tata and certainly Vanney). But I do think he would clean up Arsenal's act quite a bit and get them playing hard, which is what they need as much or more than anything.

It would likely be the best hire they could make, as I think Tuchel, for example, is not the right type manager to follow someone like Wenger. Damnit.

If he gets the offer, he has to take it. There's literally no choice.

1 - He'll get a big-time multi-year guarantee, especially as he can leverage having to leave a first place side (or nearly) mid-season.

2 - If he doesn't win a single game as manager, he would still be a homerun hire for most any MLS or Ligue 1 club or anywhere in between, and that new contract would surely pay him more than what he's on now.

I don't think he's irreplaceable for us right now. I do think changing mid-season makes it really difficult. That said, you can't begrudge the man if he gets a shot at top 15 worldwide gig in his profession and he takes it. But we will. And there's nothing wrong with us doing so, as we're fans/supporters and by definition, maniacally and rightfully and openly biased. I understand you leaving Paddy. But I will still be pissed.

It deserves its own thread but we’ll work on the title.

I don’t think Vieira to Arsenal in January 2019 or June 2019, should be fulfill his contract with NYCFC until December 2018, is the smart move for any parties.

Arsenal will want a manager they will be able to keep around for at least three seasons. They don’t want a quick series of managers fired one after another. I think a manager with more European experience will be the one to get the job.

I don’t think Vieira is ready to make the jump yet to the Premier League in terms of tactics and transfers. MLS has slightly eased him into the latter with a salary cap. He can’t ask management for $50M warchest because there’s no point in having one in MLS.

There’s the whole CFG angle that we now nothing about. I’d like to think Pep will make his decisions and intentions of staying on as Man City manger clear and they will relay that to Vieira who will know how his future is acknowledged in the group. I think they’lol pay him whatever he wants reasonably, but it’s more than the money in this case.

I just pray that Vieira knows how to handle this in the locker room this season and it doesn’t distract anything from the mission ahead.

are betting odds REALLY reliable? i know there are odds for anything over in the UK but how often is it right? games are one thing but stuff like new hires or where players end up?
