Caitlin Murray, whoever the hell that is, is now on my list of "people so fucking stupid they aren't worth even considering".

Called underrated:
The longstanding, widely recognized best DM in MLS (Ozzie)
The widely acknowledged best this year (ring)
The God forgive us em-Effin captain of the USMNT.
A guy who can't claim a position in a team who can't be stable top half (Rowe)
A guy who's recognized as the best target forward in MLS.

A keeper who got a 40 man roster spot due to facing among the least shots ever, and is still susceptible to deadly spills, only covered by the best CB pairing in MLS. So good, even their subs are better than most. And they don't play a guy who Juve, MCFC, Psgc Chelsea, Ajax, etc. want to buy.
A guy drafted very high, and considered a standout wide defender already, in only in his second year, and someone people have talked about as call-up for Nat duty.

Oh, and then there's Chara, whom everyone who has watched a PTFC match in the last 3 years knows is an absolute beast.

Then. We have Tommy. Who well may be the most overrated shitstain of a player in the entirety of this ass pimple of a league.

And to cap it all off, there's one guy who's semi-under-rated, in Cronin. But he's even really properly rated, as his trade is widely recognized as being a coup for his singlehandedly helping Minnesota not be nearly as shit as they were.

So yeah, whomever Caitlin Murray is, (s)he makes me wish that (s)he didn't produce "articles". All this article proved is the author is the most uninformed douche cracker ever to put fingertip to keyboard regarding MLS, including the blue moon brigade who showed up only for Lampard.

If you don't know the league and the chatter, don't pitch your editor a deep-dive premise such as this one.

What were you drinking when you wrote this? I'm not disagreeing with anything you wrote, but it has some qualities found in a drunk-dialed phone call.... meandering brutal honesty with an "I forgot to add" redial.

I'd drank a bottle of some kind of chateauneuf du pape and was about 45 minutes from bed.

This was interesting. Did Villa recommend (demand) Kreis be fired?

If so, I love him even more.

The late, awkward arrivals of Lampard and Pirlo were often cited as instrumental in Jason Kreis's demise as the first head coach of the team, but don't underestimate what Villa's sense of ownership in the project did to make Kreis' position ultimately untenable.

Direct translation = the popes new castle. It's a particular kind of wine the king of France commissioned in celebration of the papacy moving to Avignon. It's a blend of the granache grape and up to 12 other varietals. It's going to be way darker than a Cabernet. Taste wise it's bold and powerful, like one of those giant French Syrah's except more complex.

This is one of those wines that you buy and promptly throw in a wine cellar for a decade or three. Drinking it much before that and the wine hasn't figured out what it wants to be yet. Think of it as a good burgundy's extremist cousin.

Does that work? Do wines really improve in bottle? I'm certain that's not how it works with say, Scotch. There aging only works in the casks. You can't buy 12 year old Scotch, keep the bottle in in a cool dry place for 8 years, and have 20 year Scotch. Yes, it's 20 years old by the calendar but it's not 20 years aged. But maybe wine is different.

Wine is in fact different and does change with age in the bottle. Some wines, typically whites, you need to drink immediately and some, most reds, can use some time to get over themselves.

The why's and how's of how this happens is not something I'm going to spend the next 45 minutes typing up in a forums post. THough I do recommend looking it up as its a facinating process.
