Improve =/= change. White wine will fall off if you leave it be for too long. But you are broadly correct, the vast majority of wine sold and drunk today is not improved by letting keeping it in the bottle for a few years.

If you wanted to know why the American soccer community is a damn joke, that's all you need to know. They could be interviewing Vieira or Reyna. They could have guys like Ring, Johnson or Chanot on the show.

I listened to the ETR interview too. I think there is a bit of "Everyman" admiration in TMac, he's a local guy that could have done other things (imagine him as a finance bro in an alternative reality) but is living his dream playing pro soccer. Also they wanted to play up the local angle. He's got this "dude, whatever" way of speaking which I get that people like. It was a fine interview.
I'm sure most everyone has read it, but the NY Times article on Saturday is can't miss stuff.

On ETR, David Gass says he won't call us MLS cup contenders yet because of our CBs.
That's absolute insanity on multiple fronts.
1) the season is halfway over, and our record is 3rd best in the league.
2) we've not dropped a single point with Ring and Herrera in midfield
3) Our CBs are nails in defense.
4) Callens has reduced his mistakes on the ball to the point where I can't recall the last one.
5) does that mean he thinks Chicago and Toronto have better CBs? Because if so, I can't take him seriously anymore. Only SKC has a better pair for me, but I think Chanot and Callens have as high or higher ceiling than Besler/Opara.

And Callens has been solid defensively. He has had a few gaffes that have directly led to goals, which should be considered. But he's a really good defender.
I tweeted this earlier but I'll say it again here: Monster didn't just "ambush" RBA. That was a The Third Rail stunt.
Also... This Week in MLS has a triggering title. LOL
Why won't people adjust to new facts? As I think you pointed out somewhere earlier today, we're also top 5 in Goals Against. Plus, we have the lowest Expected Goals Against for however much you credit that. Point is, every single metric shows that NYC has a very solid defense this year.
