NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

So right now I'd say what we need most glaringly

A new Keeper

A new left back. Angelino never likely to stay and we need someone who can defend a bit more attack a bit less. I've been far from impressed with Iraola on the other side but expect him to be back.

A Defensive ball winning midfielder . With the possible exception of keeper this is the most important. Presuming (like it or not) that Kreis is back Beckerman was the linchpin to making his style of play work in Salt Lake. We need someone at least as good as him.

I'd say those three spots are priority with one more center back and a forward to help/spell Villa secondary

Much has been said of Mix being a better central mid than outside or winger. If we bring in someone else for that role are we saying that:

(A) Mix just continues to play out of position and will be sub par.
(B) Mix will be much better on the outside if he is supported by a central mid of higher quality than AJ.
(C) Mix has had enough of the Kreis experiment and will be gone.

Truly curious.

I think Mix is gone after this year for a number of reasons. I think it's mutual. he's not happy, he hates Kreis, he's playing out of position. Depsite all of that, he's not playing well, he's making 750k a year and they will want roster flexibility.

I think Mix has had a great season despite being played out of position by Kreis, benched, off on international duty, and for large portions of the early season being the only competent midfielder picking up all the slack. He is a work horse and a prominent and young face of the club for many. If we lose him because of Kreis then I would be beyond furious. He is young and will only get better, rather here than somewhere else.

I agree with others though we need a new keeper and a new LB for next season desperately. Aswell as a true CDM (one that actually defends) to replace Jacobson. If we can squeeze it in a pacey strike partner for Villa (though I think Mullins or even a Poku could fill that if really necessary)

If you can drop Wingert and Grabavoy and Nemec and Jacobsen, that frees up roughly 850k of salary cap room.

You should be able to sign a true CDM and a LB for that.

Good point. Just dont stop there. Far more room to be made with our dead weight.

This would make me so sad. No more snapchat stories with Khiry.

All true.

If we were going to do what really ought to be done (ignoring that Kreis should be fired, regardless of whether or not he would fight his players - and I'm sure he would given how much of a little man syndrome suffering ***** he is), then we cut bait with Lampard and maybe even Pirlo. We take that slot, and go save Schweiny from his horrendous mistake at ManU. That man would hold down the base of the diamond for 5 years.

The more I have followed MLS this year, the more I have realized how underpaid some really stellar players are here. Nat Borchers and Chad Marshall are probably the two best American CBs right now (non-DP). Borchers makes 230k this year. Marshall makes 275k.

To compare, Grabavoy makes 200k, Jacobsen makes 150k, Mena makes 200k and Wingert makes 215k.

Who do we blame for that?

sorry, not trying to crush this post, but thought it would be important to put dollars to the dead weight this year. These are folks who have played limited minutes but count against the cap. Guys most of us would probably not expect or want here next year:

Alvarez 63k
Ballouchy 83k
Brovsky 129k
Calle 225k
Grabavoy 215k
Iraola 200k
Jacobson 150k
Meara 73k
Nemec 333k
Taylor 84k
Velasquez 60k
Kwame 82k
Williams 125k
Wingert 215k

Is there anyone on this list that you would be really upset to not be here next year?

That's over 2 Million of our cap on wasted players. And some people want Hernandez (185k) and Mena (200k) off the roster too.

I hope we're in for some big shake ups this off season.

totally down to start raising money to buy out lamps contract so we can get a dp who wants to be here and can help us win.

Lets get de rossi.

then we can trot this out next season ;)

let me dream. I think mix stays and has a better season next year.

Claudio Pizarro is unattached and old sounds good for this roster. I can't imagine him taking Nemec salary but he did say he wants to still play and won't play in Bundesliga because he doesn't want to play against Bayern.

Will Packwood got called up for Olympic qualifying. He's training with NE Revs but has trained with them before and NJRB and someone else but nobody signed him. From what I heard he's dreadfully slow now after all the injuries. If that's something that our training staff think can be fixed with time away from the injury he might be worth a signing. He's still young (22) and at worse he's depth and a big body. We don't have a lot of size in the back and him being 6'3 if he can regain his fitness could be a great signing down the road.
