NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Wow. If that's the case, and we end the season with Maxi Moralez as a DP and NOT a TAM player, then we can judge CFG's commitment by who plays better this year.
Fwiw, there have been a lot of negative comments about the [rumored] move.

I really don't think that that would be a judgement of CFG's commitment. What if Honda didn't want to come to NYC? What if he really wanted to live in Seattle?

Yeah, perhaps we could have gotten a better player than Maxi, and I wish we could. But this team has already shelled out a ton of dough on players, and that cannot be doubted. Maybe they aren't making the better decisions, but in no means are they not committed to this program.

You are absolutely right that Honda gets to choose where he goes and he may not have wanted to play in New York. You're correct.

We've also collectively shelled out A LOT of money as fans supporting this franchise, to the tune of thousands of dollars per year per fan.

A DP is a DP whether he makes $500k or $5 Million. We will be the collective judges as to whether the other players to join the league this year are better players. But we're all still underwhelmed at the signing of a Liga MX bench player. It's akin to Xolos getting excited for Mix Diskerud to join the team.

Thank you. Mix to Xolos confirmed!

Yes, but fans of other teams also have shelled out a lot of money supporting their franchises. I don't think we can judge the commitment of our ownership based on one signing.

And yes, a DP is a DP no matter the salary. But that doesn't mean they need to spend $5m+ on every one of them. The club would surely be losing money if they do that every year, especially at the stage that MLS is currently at.

I was also underwhelmed by the Maxi signing, was hoping for something more. There's obviously a lot more that goes into than just signing a Liga MX bench player (injury, fallen out of coaches favor, played very well in Italy, etc.). That said, I was still hoping for more.

TL;DR, I was underwhelmed by the Maxi signing, but it doesn't change my view one iota on the commitment our owners have to this franchise. They have definitely made mistakes, and perhaps this is one of them too.

We will agree to disagree. They don't all have to make $6 Million a year, but they shouldn't be sitting on the bench of a mediocre Liga MX side either. There needs to be a happy medium we can get behind.

By the way, these deals don't come together quickly. They can take more than a month to find and acquire a transfer target. So before someone says it was the best they could do late in the transfer window, that's crap. They may have missed out on other guys, but they obviously keyed in on Maxi over a month ago.

Have you guys actually watched Honda play? Because last time I did he was awful. Every time he got on the ball he made the wrong decision. It was truly embarrassing. I don't know why you people are so enamored of him.
I haven't. But like I said a long time ago, not good in FIFA, do not want.

How the hell are Sounders going to get Deuce, Lodeiro and Honda on the field? Empty bucket with Deuce as second striker??

4-2-3-1? If that's the plan, they better have some serious fullbacks coming along. Or maybe they'll play like it's FIFA. Park the bus, attack speed 95.

Of course, I am leaping to conclusions. We are talking about a league where not every team high pressed us when it was glaringly obvious we were 1- going to play out of the back for the 1st third and 2- we sucked at it.

Speaking of, and I'm guilty here, but why do people say we played out of the back last year? Is it really playing out of the back to move the ball 25 yards and then kick it long? Something doesn't seem right about that. "We like to play out of the back, so we'll make 4-5 passes that are high risk because we suck, and then we'll have Pirlo kick it long instead of our keeper." That's a strategy, sure. But it ain't playing out of the back the way I've ever understood it before.

Agree to disagree.

But you can't disagree with the fact that Maxi has been tearing it up for me in FIFA online :D

Yup, playing a 4-3-3 with pirlo deep, ring and maxi as the advanced AMs and villa up top as a false 9. So much space for villa and maxi to operate.
I am sorry, as much as I support my local team, there is no way I would want to play FIFA without the best players I can get. Why limiting oneself to MLS players? I have all the TOTYs and even they are not good enough to compensate my lack of FIFA playing skills :)
