Manchester City attacker Kevin de Bruyne has ambitions to play in the MLS.

De Bruyne, a £52million buy from Wolfsburg in 2015, penned a new £300,000-a-week deal last month that will keep him at the Etihad until 2023.

But the midfielder then plans to play in Major League Soccer after falling in love with life in the US.

Agent Patrick De Koster said: "I think Kevin will end his career in the USA rather than in Belgium.

"He has already been to America many times on holiday, and he loves the country and its culture.

"He said goodbye to his bachelor life in Las Vegas, and we have often spoken about him ending his career in the MLS.

"He hasn't yet had any offers from American clubs, because they know it is not worth bothering as he is at the peak of his career.

"Clubs in China will probably look longingly at him, but I can't see him going over to play there.

"Did I have any contacts with Real Madrid or Barcelona? Informal contacts are made all the time, and people call me in the name of club X or Y.

"But Kevin's only desire was to remain at City. He is incredibly happy on all levels, and besides he has just bought a house near Manchester that he is renovating."

Where would he end up? New York City FC

Stating the obvious here, but NYCFC would be a probable destination for the Man City star due to the team’s relations. The two sides have a history of transactions between them, most recently with Jack Harrison making the move to England.

During the MLS expansion side’s first season, they received some young talent from their sister club to help bolster their squad. Center-back, Shay Facey and left-back, Angelino, joined the Pigeons on loan in 2015, helping improve the team’s poor defensive line.

All depends on when. The window for players to play well into their 30s in europe and then get a contract in the MLS is closing as the league gets better. If he thinks he's not coming till he's 36 when he's good and done in Europe it's a hard pass. He wants to come at some point when he's still south of 30 years old, sure.

Let's be clear. This would happen after his contract ends with Man City. Which would be around 2022 or 2023. Okay, I've already posted the Sports Illustrated article on the Players Wanted Thread. So, I'm going to move all of this to there because this doesn't deserve it's own thread since he didn't indicate he wants to play for NYCFC.

Don't include links to The Shit. (i.e. Sun)

Thanks, wasn't sure exactly where to post this interesting news that I read earlier in the week on my phone. When I first read the news somewhere in it stated that he was interested in MLS specifically NYCFC, which is super cool but obviously that wouldn't happen for years. Can't find where/what I originally read about KDB. Hey at least there now talking about The States in a more positive light than they used to, and considering it a viable option for their footballing career.

What release clause? MCFC don't tend to put them into their players' contracts. They're more of a continental European thing.

Yeah I didn't actually look into it, just a joke pointing out that there's a hell of a lot of time between now and when he ends his career for other things to happen.

Spanish clubs, by law, have to include release clauses. It's part of their labor law. I don't know if that's the case anywhere else, but Spanish clubs have to include a release clause in every contract.

Technically, it’s a buyout. The player buys himself out of the deal. But yeah, required.
