NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Cool. ...Who? Wonder if NYCFC will ever publish stuff about their academy so we actually know these names without doing our own investigative research.
What kinda stuff were you thinking of? IMO there is a decent amount of recaps, highlights, announcements via Twitter. I had def seen this guy's name before. I also have notifications turned on for their Twitter account so maybe that's it.

Lol no. Not as far as I am aware of
If this guy is our new CB, is he the replacement for Chanot - as either a direct replacement to #1 if he’s that good, or more likely as our #3/4 behind Callens/Ibeagha/Sweat? Or is he being signed as our typical HG that isn’t on the 18 because he was threatening to go to college if they didn’t sign him now (basically a sign/hold acquisition)?

Not much public info on Owusu, but he won a Development Academy award this summer along with the usual suspects: https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/ussf-announces-2017-18-boys-da-awards_aid44343

What's with our club and the love for Kw- named players? One leaves, they sign another. It's like there's a clause saying "Thou shalt have one player whose name begins with 'kw-' "

Lot of soccer players of Ghanaian descent out there. Glad we're keeping up the tradition.

Sands and Owusu were the CB pairing that won NYCFC U19's the DA National Championship

Soon --> https://twitter.com/kwakuow2?lang=en

Top Drawer Soccer has him listed as the 83th best player in the Class of 2019 and a three star talent. 1st in the class is James Sands.

The two other players in Sands class are Haak (34th) and Nico Benalcazar (37th).

A few players I noticed.
  • Parkhurst made $340K last year and had his option declined by Atlanta. Not sure CB is a position of need for us, but that's a good deal.
  • Feilhaber made $625K last year and is out of contract.
  • Ozzie Alonso made $1,140K last year and is out of contract.
  • D. Beasley made only $275K last year and is out of contract.
  • Sal Zizzo - would be good to find a way to get him back on the Red Bulls.

there has to be a reason why Sal keeps getting let go.

  • In conjunction with Atlanta releasing their roster information they released a statement that they are actively negotiating to resign Parkhurst and both sides are confident a deal will be reached so I think we can cross him off the list.
  • Feilhaber is talented but always a locker room wildcard, I'd stay away.
  • Alonso's lost a step but would be nice midfield depth but only at a way lower salary.
  • I was surprised D. Beasley is only 36 when I looked it up, seems like he's been playing on the national team for 36 years. Still too old for me.

i guess but i feel like there was alot of beef there with possibly multiple players in the Klinsmann era. was there issues in SKC or even at LAFC?
LAFC bought 400 central mids and has way too many, Benny just happened to be on the losing end of having a ton of central midfielders ahead of him. I don't think it was attitude, but with a few DPs and slightly higher rated players ahead of him, LAFC cut him. Wouldn't mind him coming here, albeit at a decent price.

sure, i just dont think he is a player willing to go lower than what he was probably making.

I suppose this would learn to tell him and Wondo apart:
