NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

NYCFC apparently considered bringing in Mario Balotelli before Pirlo.

Before landing Pirlo, New York City FC did consider bringing Balotelli into the league, one source told ESPN FC. The Azzurri veteran might even be on some team's discovery list -- that laughably named mechanism that somehow allowed the Chicago Fire to fleece the Montreal Impact out of a household name like Drogba even though the Fire had no other connection to the player -- right now. The league, citing competitive considerations, declined to say.

I assume Kreis shot that down immediately.

The Revs, Red bulls and Chicago have all passed on USMNT U-23 Will Packwood. I don't know whats wrong with this kid and why everyone keeps passing on him but he has to be better then Kwame and could give us some depth.

He is too expensive and doesn't have too much talent for his worth.

Jacobson has been fine. Balo would have been a disaster in NYC.
Yeah. Totally awful with Pirlo pinging balls to him.

I think he would be incredible here. I'd give up Frank for him tomorrow.

Now could Kreis handle him? No way in hell. But I think we've all seen about enough of lineups built especially for and by his handling to recognize we shouldn't be building based on Kreis's preferences anymore.

Considering no manager on any of his teams have ever correctly "handled" him I would agree, no Kreis couldn't handle him. Although unlike his other managers he may knock his block off.

Mario Balotelli: Height 6' 2", Weight 176 lbs
Jason Kreis: Height 5'8" (reported, as I am 5'11" and standing right next to him talking to him in an airport, I'd have said I have 5-6 inches on him), Weight 155 lbs

Help me, Tom Cruise! We're really resorting to defenses of our coach based upon his ability to kick a player's ass? I'll credit your originality at least, as that's one that is no doubt new.

I'm guessing you've never actually met and spoke to Kreis before. If you had, Tom Cruise wouldn't be your first analogy. Kreis is a very intense man, and way more intimidating than Arena or Preki.

I took the analogy to mean Tom Cruise is really short but (in movies at least) generally plays a badass who can beat up comparative giants.

curious: which club do you think will win MLS this year and where does the club stand if it belongs to EPL/SerieA/Bundesliga/La Liga? Very bottom? or low end of middle range? and how much gap is there between NYCFC and that club?
