NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

As much as I'd love this to be the case I would find it very difficult to imagine MLS and CFG doing that.

I can imagine the conversation going like this: "sure we have two good strikers and need a center back but Balotelli is available. Strikers sell shirts and get us on TV not center backs."

Though Sergio Ramos would be a great option in 2 years…
Damn you.

What about Anelka and Raul Mirales? Last night I Ricardo Carvhalo playing for Portugal. Sign him up!

We are at our dp max unless we drop lampy somehow. raul meireles is a good shout if we get a dp open. He is feisty and truly gritty which is something we lack.

Carvalho is a hero of mine. He is defying time right now but if we were to get a cb dp id prefer someone a little younger.

If we had get a Jermaine Jomes, Raul Mereiles, Gary Medel, Gattuso type CDM, we'd look night and day. This team has no grit. No guy who can set it off with a strong tackle. No guy who can say WAKE THE FUCK UP at key points in the game. We're soft mentallly and physically.

Okay a DP is just someone who makes over $300,000? That means we need to find a gritty dude from maybe Mexico, or South America. My first choice would be some bruiser from the championship or from League 1. A british dude who knows how to get stuck in.

The actual figure this year is $436,250.

Sigh was just thinking the depressing thought that since Pirlo and Lampard are almost certainly not going anywhere our best bet for improvement next season is likely trading either Mix or Poku for a quality MLS Dmid, strike partner for Villa , or Keeper. Now not at all saying I want to get rid of either before everyone starts yelling at me but our central Midfield is congested (with Mix being forced out on the wing not his natural position ) and we do need help in all three of those areas plus left back and who else do we have that would be of any value to other teams in the league?

I am in the trade Mix camp. He serves no purpose other than someone thought it would be cool to have him. We CANNOT trade Poku or TMac. That would be like Chelsea selling Glenn Johnson. Just image instead of the 6 RB Chelsea have one Glenn Johnson and Ashley Cole on the other side. Anyway these boys are young and can learn from our DPs. So Alvarez, Valasquez, NED GRABAVOY, and Ballouchy can go. That leaves Mix, Poku Tmac Lamps, Pirlo, Jacobson in the midfield. That is lots of options. We get a huge forward two wingers and a better CB with the money.

we NEED a D mid still that grouping of mifd doesn't solve that problem I'd much rather trade Tmac than mix I just don't think he'd bring anything worthwhile back .

Trading Mix might alleviate a short term problem, but is it good for the future? I don't think he's the problem. I think who he takes the field with may be more of the problem. Lampard and Pilro haven't proven to be a worthwhile investment. We've seen nothing from Lampard and Pirlo's had a good pass or two, but nothing that helped us. They have two year contracts right? After that, with a little reworking of the roster and better set of DP, the future may be brighter. Just a thought ...

Exactly. Can't get rid of a young player who can give us many years of service and is a good piece to build around. I mean, we could, but that's not a wining strategy.

Agreed.
Mix has ability and flair, and should be accommodated in a system that brings the best out of him (IMO - in my opinion).
Maybe Kreis doesn't trust him to do the defensive or workload side?
He wouldn't be alone in sacrificing flair.
The England National team suffered throughout the 70s and 80s, due to stubborn, stuffy, old fashioned coaches who refused to accommodate the 'mavericks'

I have Mix on my kit I don't want to trade him. My whole point was with have glaring holes in our lineup and a glut of certain positions in midfield. Trying to be realistic like it or not I'm sure we're sticking with Lampard and Pirlo. That being the case who besides Mix and Poku do we have that other MLS teams might be interested or willing to give us something decent in return for?
