Osvaldo Alonso is making close to 800,000 and would count as a DP. Unless he is willing to take a huge pay cut then we have to look elsewhere.
Unless Sounders pay pRt, it doesn't happen. I say cut your losses and go after Will Johnson. Unless we have a better MLS ready player available.Osvaldo Alonso is making close to 800,000 and would count as a DP. Unless he is willing to take a huge pay cut then we have to look elsewhere.
You think Will Johnson is okay? How did he look in the short time he was back after the nasty leg break?Unless Sounders pay pRt, it doesn't happen. I say cut your losses and go after Will Johnson. Unless we have a better MLS ready player available.
Before he was injury plagued, Holden had the makings of our most complete central midfielder on the USMNT. I'd definitely take a flyer on him - that's a no-brainer. If Charlie Davies can resurrect his career after nearly being a card carrying member of the walking dead, he even now has uneven leg lengths, then Holden can get off of soccer pundit life-support and lace up if he wants to.You think Will Johnson is okay? I worry he may have entered the George John zone. I don't know though, because I didn't see him play.
On that same position, has anyone heard any more news on the Holden front? He was still contemplating a comeback in the spring, I think. If he wants to give playing another go, I'd take a shot on him. 80% of Stu is better than 90% of the holding/defensive mids in the league. And maybe 80% of those across all top divisions. He was such a good player and is such a good person. That guy would be a great ambassador for the team if we could give him a Vieira deal.
Also remember all Johnson's years at RSL and his first at Portland. I think his problem now is that Timbers have a very working system. There was a time when it was Beckerman vs Johnson for DM at Salt Lake. Johnson seems to be healthy again now and I would not label him as glass-hip type player like John seems to be. I think it might be worth the risk, especially if we could negotiate a better price with him. Before he was injury plagued, Holden had the makings of our most complete central midfielder on the USMNT. Will Johnson is Canadian, so I would take him for the jokes. Also remember all Johnson's years at RSL and his first at Portland. I think his problem now is that Timbers have a very working system. As for Holden, I too am a believer. If he can also be priced right (non DP) there are definitely worse options.
True, eh. But he has a green card so I don't think he takes a international slot. Will Johnson is Canadian, so I would take him for the jokes.
Yeah I remember watching a video about Stu and his comeback. He would definitely be worth a shot. You think Will Johnson is okay? How did he look in the short time he was back after the nasty leg break?

How about Buy 1 Get 1 Free ?For <$400k we'd be glad to have him.
Then he would fit in with our current group of CBs.He was abused yesterday
If Pirlo or Lamps or Villa are still here, there is no way Torres or anyone like him CAN come to NYCFC. 3 DPs and done.I wonder what Fernando Torres thinks of MLS.
His contract is up at the end of the season. I doubt we'd get him in January because they need him, there's also an option to extend his deal with Milan. Could see him coming over in the summer, especially if rumors of Pirlo headed out are true.
Well he still has until summer on his contract and Milan could easily extend it for a year. Could be a stop gap while Villa ages and Lampard and Pirlo are retired after next season. If Pirlo or Lamps or Villa are still here, there is no way Torres or anyone like him CAN come to NYCFC. 3 DPs and done.
He definitely looked Wingert-esque. I know he would probably be an improvement, but I don't know that he would be the value for money we need. And yes, I mean even at $400k. At that price, he'd still be ~10% of our cap. Then he would fit in with our current group of CBs.
