NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Dallas declined the options for Texeira and Zimmerman. They have to be renegotiating with them though, right?

Edit: Just read that FCD extended a new offer to Zimmerman. No word yet on Texeira.

Yeah most likely Zimmerman will re-sign. I think Dallas feels Texeira had his chance and their moving on.

That would be bad karma to let Zimmerman go after he played hero for them in the Conference semis.

The EDS loanees need to be able to play. Potential doesn't mean anything to us because by the time they are good, they will be gone.
OK, guess you guys are right about that. I didn't take it into consideration that he is a loanee. but he is someone I am willing to spend my money to buy for my club, just saying.

If we are doing this for the greater glory of ManCity then you are 100% right. But we aren't in this for ManCity's glory, but ours. We're selfish that way.

Exactly. As an Evertonian, I would love to see him succeed here - and then have him go back to Manchester and be torn about by Geri Deulofeu the next 8 years.

The cosblows didnt resign haji wright. I know he made 0 impact with then. But still has potential and just the thought of him scoring against the cosmos in the open cup and beating them gives me the warm and fuzies in filthy places.

In all honesty though, it's interesting that when Wright was brought to the Cosmos, it was touted a a major coup to land him over MLS clubs..... fast forward to present day, and he's presumably heading to Europe on a free transfer. What's the point of signing a touted kid if the club either doesn't hold on to him for the first team, or receive something for him via the transfer market? I get it that the Cosmos are all about marketing and PR stunts, but if they want to be on par with D1 clubs, the academy should be the future. Then again, maybe HW wasn't as good as billed, or maybe he felt he was stagnating and needed to get out.......

This was always a place holder for him, as the Cosmos were the only club who would let such a circus act go on as signing a 17-18 year old to a one year deal. He just needed some competitive games so he wouldn't be pulling a Junior Flores.

This is wayyyy off topic, but I think we'd either have to choose one or the other when it comes to Gooch and Ibra. I just read (and tell me if this is really, really old forgotten news) that he and Ibra got into a martial arts fight in 2010 at AC Milan. Ibra headbutted Gooch, but Gooch answered by breaking Ibra's ribs. Crazy the two trajectories those careers have gone since.

Take both of them.... the one thing the team was really lacking last year (besides overall skill) was a serious burning fire in their hearts. I want to see utter passion and dismay when they lose rather than ho-hum reactions.

FIFA restricts players under 18 from moving to other countries for football reasons. This is why Barca has had a transfer ban the last year. It was really win win for both sides. Cosmos get a PR coup and HW gets some cash and playing time. More important to make it seem like the NASL is a legit league than actually be legit.
