NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

You mean the player from Senegal, also not a nation on the banned list? My argument still stands. Playing on irrational political fears.
Huh? Midas mentioned it could have been referring to him just as easily as Khedira. I ask if there was any talk of him being a DP, because if not then he wouldn't have been the anonymous player. Had nothing to do with your hypothesis.

Sorry. Getting late for me. So my avatar and a reply. Thought you were replying to me. Time for bed. Long day.

This is turning political, so I'll stop here after one statement. I'll gladly PM after. As part of the statisticaly most targeted ethnic group for bias crime in the US (% wise and incidents) - Jewish, this is all really being blown way out of proportion. The US is one of the safest nations in the world for everyone, before our current president, and hopefully after as well. Especially if you're rich like Khedira. In my mind it's just an excuse for a failed negotiation.
What does the fact that youre a jew have anything to with how a Muslim foreigner feels about Donald Trump and the status of Muslims in the United States?

How many of y'all are originally from another country?

I'm not religious and I was born in a country that has been a staunch ally of the USA. Yet if my entire life wasn't already here and I was thinking of migrating, I would definitely be put off by the political climate.

Statistically Jews are attacked in the US for bias crimes on an astonishingly more often basis then Muslims. I'm still not afraid. Even at the current rate of hate crimes, this nation is safer then most. Therefore, a Muslim (who has much less a chance of being a victim of a hate crime) shouldn't not be afraid either. It's an irrational fear. And to use it as a reason not to play soccer in the US comes off as a lame excuse.

Sorry for posting that here if it's too political. Trying to keep in on topic about why it should have nothing to do with a player signing.

As a Jew, if I was considering moving to a country and then watched that country (a) elect a President who ran an openly anti-semitic campaign and then (b) instate a ban on anyone from Israel, even if I still objectively viewed the country as safe for someone of my socio-economic means, there's a good chance I'd choose not to move there. In fact, if I had other good choices (which anyone looking to sign a DP contract has) I'd 100% choose not to move there, and at a minimum I'd anonymously leak that to the press.

Even if you had a multi-million dollar contracts waiting for you and you could leave after a few years? We're not asking these signings to become US citizens. It's an entirely difference equation.

Bad analogy. Let's pretend the entire continent of Europe, along with Israel was a Jewish majority. You're Israeli. But the US bans Jews from Slovenia, Belgium and France because there are Jewish terrorists there. There is an irrational fear of Jewish terrorism in the US. But most hate crimes are against Muslims. Jews are actually pretty safe in the US. You're an Israeli Jew, and free to come over. Do you still not come?

Edit: I want to stop this from becoming political. My point was it doesn't strike me as genuine that the person didn't sign purely for political purposes. That's my point and I'm moving on.

I can't escape politics. Everyone is a friggin pundit now, but the majority have no idea what they are even speaking about other than echoing what they hear. It's everywhere!

This is a 'players wanted' thread. Maybe you think your political opinions are super important, but IDGAF and I'm sure alot of others on here don't either. Also don't give me the 'it's relevant because players don't want to play here' drivel, cause I don't remember all these players beating down the door to play in MLS before Trump.

Maybe take it to the 'off topic' section and you can all go wild about it. Otherwise, if you need a list of safe spaces to discuss your sensitivities, I can DM one to you.

ETA: I'm not going to respond to anything about this, as that contradicts my post.

You just asked for a safe space in a post complaining about safe spaces.

This is the last post I will make on this subject for NickA sake but your posts are extremely oblivious. You are not Muslim. You don't know what its like being a Muslim in this country. Hate crimes against Muslims are at an all time high in this country. Muslim fears about potential for persecution in this country are not irrational, but rooted in real things going on in our society and political system.

I wonder if Villa will play a role in finding his big name DP successor, overlapping one season after he extends through next season, and then handing off the torch. It sounds like he has been marketing the MLS to his big name buddies in Spain, and the list of potentials is a sexy one. It would be a well-deserved parting gift for Villa to play again with a comrade, and an opportunity for the team to lure a superstar here with an assist from Villa. [Just moving this thread along a bit].

LionNYC - are you proud of yourself? See what you did?

We're going to need you to stick to predicting hat tricks, pitchside fireside anecdotes, and scarf reviews.

Barcelona may be going out of the UCL very soon.
