NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Probably both have to agree which initiates the already agreed to contract verbiage? As opposed to negotiating an extension from scratch?
That's what I figure that but it's not really an option. It's more like a mutual reverse option, where either party can opt out and force a new negotiation or break off the deal altogether. I think it's an unenforceable thing they put into the contract to forestall exactly what you observed, which is it's only a one-year deal. But if neither party can enforce the option unilaterally, it really is a one year deal.

How do you play Griezmann and Ibra together? You would have to play a 4-4-2. How do you fit in Pogba and Mhikitaryan.

EPL clubs are so dumb.

Well depending on the other personnel, I'm sure they would all fit into a 4-4-2 diamond or even a flat 4-4-2. With Griezmann, you could also probably play a 4-4-1-1 with him just under Zlatan. I don't watch a whole lot of MU, so I'm not sure how their other pieces fit into it all.

Iniesta and Khedira are both frequently dinged up these days. To be honest, I really don't want a skillful player that might be able to keep up physically, i.e. another Pirlo. I want a physical player that might be able to dominate with his skill.

From the smoke, it looks like we are after a CM. But I will hold out hope for Fernando Torres until he actually signs his next contract.
Yeah, but Iniesta and Pirlo are different types of players, and Pirlo came when he was way older than Iniesta is now. And even when young he was never fast or physical. Iniesta, on the contrary, is slight but faster and with ridiculous footwork. I think he would be fantastic. Also, on a higher level than Pirlo in general. If you take Ballon D'Or tallies into account he's been right below Cristiano and Messi (although those 2 have dominated like no pair before)

By the way - he still hasn't figured out how to play the guys he has right now.
Considering the mess he inherited, he's progressing steadily while staying in a top 5 table position with a game in hand. Moyes and LVG royally fcked up that squad to the point that if a young Ferguson took over he'd just burn the whole thing down (save a handful of players) and start the roster over. It was a total mess.

Why is LVG so bad these days? He used to be a top coach. Is he too out of date?

Agreed. Without turning this thread red, in short I would say that JM has turned the team around well ahead of schedule. Qualifying for Europe through either path will be a massive success.

Tactics and personnel.

He coached too defensively for a traditionally all-out offensive club. It was as if he'd rather not lose instead of playing to win, which resulted in lots of lost points.

Players he brought in never played to their abilities, he sold players like Chicharitto and DiMaria who have gone on to more success at their new clubs (the same that they enjoyed Pre-LVG). And he was evidently a complete ass in the locker room. He also never played some players that should have been locks, like Herrera.

The list was long at MU. His strategy was to pass the ball sideways for 90 minutes and occasionally send a long ball to a sole striker like Fellaini. If the Mix banishment was frustrating, VG had six or seven of those (including his countryman RvP). His signings were abysmal. Just seeing Ulrich 's post in the interim which nails it as well.

EPL is the equivalent to a spoiled 10 year old playing FIFA Ultimate Team and loading his team with high priced players...only to get blasted by my silver squad online.

Then where do you fit Mata, Pogba, Herrera, Carrick, Mikhitaryan, Young, Fellaini, Lindgard, Rashford, Martial, etc.

He doesn't really have any wide players on his roster other than Young and Lindgard probably. One is no longer a UCL player and the other we just don't know about yet.

Yeah, I don't know. I really don't know their roster all that much, I was just starting with those 4.

Hypothetical lineups with AG was/is a hot online thread/ article topic in the red world. There are some really interesting formation variations. Some involve him playing wide right in various formations (where he has played at times), playing a free role behind Zlatan, replacing Zlatan if he leaves or slows down, having a fluid all French speaking front/mid five (which would add Martial to the mix) etc.

I don't know how this fits in this thread, but I'll be sick if Griezmann goes to that club.

I don't think it will work for him, and I like him a lot as a player. He's much better suited to play in teams like BVB, Real, Barca, Liverpool, City, etc. He's ideal for higher pressure teams/ teams that break with real pace. Even Bayern or Chelsea would be better. I don't see how he fits alongside what's there already.

You're a Jose fan though, IIRC?
