NYCFC Sponsorship Thread

yikes! if they pull their sponsorship, who would we want on the front of our jerseys?

Edit: I'd want HBO or DC Comics heh
It be rather poetic if Apple wanted to be our sponsor & only use the Apple logo/no words. Short of that, JetBlue or AmEx would be good. Another one with just a logo/no words could be Tesla. I think the Apple or Tesla jersey could be a serious sellers worldwide, and it'd have to be since CFG would likely want the same sponsor for all of their clubs.

It's kind of odd for an airline to suffer losses due in part to lower oil prices. While those certainly hurt this airline's owner, they should generally help most airlines, for whom energy costs are a major expense. But it appears that Etihad's customers include many lesser oil magnates who have had to cut back on travel and to fly with less luxury when they do. It means Etihad is not much of a counter-cyclical investment for its owners. Airlines carry a bit of prestige to some, but they might be better off without it. I'm aware they are broadly diversified in other ways.

That's probably the best deal I've seen from an MLS club

The Points Guy puts the value of a Delta Silver Medallion at $900 so the flight basically nets you $500 if you fly travel a decent amount over the course of the year. https://thepointsguy.com/guide/what-is-delta-elite-status-worth/

NYCFC really needs to step up its sponsorship game to benefit fans. $10 tickets is the smallest part of the travel to away games.

Etihad's codeshare partners in the U.S. are American Airlines and JetBlue. Though Delta is the most likely to sponsor considering the giant Delta sign at Yankee Stadium.

The Grand Hyatt is our hotel partner. Note a Park Hyatt opened up recently in the city. So maybe a Hyatt discount for fans traveling to away games.

Something.

Though I fly Delta and use Starwood hotels, so it would be moot for me.

While the Delta Silver Medallion status is great, the flight price is not that amazing for a one-way ticket (Note the ad copy "Return flight assistance available"). If you pay the same amount coming home that's about $600 round-trip. That's not especially cheap for a same coast flight. I checked the Delta website and you can go LA to Seattle one way that morning Main Cabin for $137 departing at 9:30 and $189 at 7:30am.

I understand the Points Guy values it at that, but I'm assuming that is at that value for travelers who fly Delta enough to earn and use the benefits of that status level and he notes that there.

Honestly, I don't see this deal with the inclusion of this status level being all that big of a deal considering most likely that those that take it and travel a lot, probably already have status with Delta, or fly with another airline that they prefer and wouldn't move from. Or they travel a few times a year, usually shop between airlines, maybe they fly Delta once or twice more and take advantage of this benefit.

And then, there is the fact that you can get this status level in many different ways now, especially with various credit cards. Additionally, Starwood offers reciprocal status with Delta. I barely ever fly Delta and I have Silver status with them because of my status level with SPG.

I mean, the whole package is great and its an awesome deal. And throwing in the status is a neat little perk, but I don't think its all that valuable considering the above factors and IMO totally worth it for Delta's sake to throw that in there.

Thanks to all for reminding me I’ve lost my status this week. After a strong run, two years without weekly travel finally killed my Delta status. Damnit.

I am a victim, here. I’m overly tempted to buy 1st class now after being spoiled for a long time as a business customer. Hell, I got 6 tickets to Europe on Skybonus (1 sb point for like every 10-25 skymiles). Hated the travel. Loved the rewards.

And Marriott. Marriott, I love you, you ridiculously high-scaled reqs, but really good rewarding arguably cult-owned folks. So nice they just gave me another year as a platinum even though I didn’t stay with them at all last year. But alas, it’s putting lipstick on a dead pig since work now doesn’t require the travel.

Etihad is our sponsor because of UAE. That being said, does Etihad appeal to New Yorkers (NYCFC) and Americans (MLS)? What would be a better UAE export to sponsor our team.

Didn’t Pitchside get a 25% discount on Etihad business class fares last year? That’s a pretty good deal.

Ugh, I remember something like that. Just think it was a discount, don’t know what fare class it applied to. Then again, I’m not planning on traveling there.
