Nycfc V Columbus - M O T M And Post-game Thread

Agree with a lot of this, but have no idea why Jacobson gets the hate that he does. Thought he had a strong game with a great setup to Poku for the second goal.
Jacobsen is a blind squirrel. No doubt, he had his best game in the first 25 minutes of the second half. And yeah, I know that's not a full game.

We're proper fucked. And Kreis didn't just let it happen, he greased our own asshole tonight.

Eta: In case I haven't been clear elsewhere: Kreis has managed this squad like a fucking moron. The past should educate your analysis of the present. If you let it blind you, you're better off being ignorant.

So confused about what to feel here in this moment. We fall behind early yet again and claw back ahead in the 2nd again. Showing some great grit propped up by other-worldly play from Poku.

Mena has got to get better in transition. 1v1 he is very strong. Catch him on the move and he's a huge liability. I put both goals on him though the 2nd was helped along by 3 people.

Really tough break to leave with only 1 heading into LA.

YES Network: Always the optimists. They posted a tweet saying we have a pretty shot making the playoffs if we are strong through the tough part of the schedule. What they won't post my tweet saying we have a bleak shot against the toughest schedule in MLS.

POKUUUUU!!!!!

Kreis played for a draw from the start. Don't think we even had a shot on goal first half did we?

The commentator on MLS summed it up well - Mix sat our for about an hour, warmed up for 15 minutes, then played for 6 minutes. Total silly buggers in those last few minutes. Two yellows and a sub, but no attempt to score.

In gooder news, Ryan's Daughter was jumping and the shepherd's pie was delish!

Poku/free beer for MOTM

We are going to need one of crew impact toronto or NE to drop more points than they should AND have a strong finish to make the playoffs.

You'd think some of you watched your first game today by your reactions. Holy hell. A draw is a fair result. We were the SLIGHTLY better team but could have easily walked away from that game with nothing at all. We got very lucky on a couple of plays.

Is it disappointing that we didn't get the win? Of course. We had another come from behind game and almost pulled it off against a good home side. The delay killed momentum. What can you do?

Ratings:
5 for all except Mena and Angelino, who get 6. Poku gets an 8. Tmac was maybe a 4. Jacobsen maybe a 6, but he deserves the point drop for being terrible for 24 games before.

I was hoping you'd say shitbird instead. That word popped into my head on a crowded 6 train and I couldn't figure out where it came from for a few minutes.
Love "The Wire". God. Sometimes I think my life is a slow burn off of " stuff white people like".

Except New York Times. Or anything crunchy or vegan. Or Kreis.

I agree to a point, I think he let Kamara by on the first one, but I really felt Jacobsen was the one running with him and should've kept on. Really though, thought that's hard on both of them and Hernandez should've stepped up and never let the cross off. That is what Finlay is known for right? Feel like stopping crosses from him should've been a main talking point coming in.

As to the second. The second we gave it up in midfield I felt it was coming. Once Mix over commits with the slide tackle from behind it kind of forced him to and it was all over.

Overall, I think Mena looks promising and will turn out okay.

To be fair, he did play the same exact lineup tonight as the last game when we won with the exception of Mena for the suspended Facey and Iraola for Allen which I don't think anyone could complain about. For once, I was actually pleased when the lineup came out.

I've been down on him on lately but I don't know that not getting 3 points was his fault tonight. There was no motivation in the first half. And they came out in the second on a roll. Think the rain delay hurt us as that 2nd Columbus goal was against the run of play.
