This is my first post on here (I mainly just read what is posted to get info) but since I find some of your posts to be totally inaccurate I feel the need to correct the problem. First, I am a TR member, but only joined to be able to buy seats in the section. I don't feel any particular allegiance to the group such that I wouldn't be able to criticize it (eg. the smokebomb issue is stupid. I can't believe that people insist on setting things off in violation of the stadium rules, NYS laws and, from what I have read MLS rules, and then complain when they are taken out, just dumb). Though I will say I think Rox is doing a much better job than the guys who ran the group in the start of the season.
With all that said, I was about 10 feet from the altercation at the top of the stairs. I left the bleachers after the go-ahead goal out of frustration with the team (and to be able to get to the exit quickly), but couldn't pull the trigger and actually leave (I'm a sucker I know). I was standing at the top of the bleachers, to the right of the stairs between sections 236 & 237. Shortly after I got up there a commotion started down in the supporter's section. At some point, one individual seemed to be escorted out by security and was yelling back towards the section (I wasn't paying close attention at this point because I was still watching the game, and it was a run of the mill fan ejection). Then more security and NYPD quickly went down into the supporter's section and returned carrying the individual in the video and and an older gentleman wearing black. Now, I want to be clear that I didn't see what these guys did to get kicked out (and full disclosure I have seen the older gentleman act inappropriately on numerous occasions, including cursing at Securitas employees, so if I had to guess these guys did something that warranted an ejection). When they got to the top of the stairs, the NYPD and Securitas individuals put the kid in the video on the ground (they didn't slam him to the ground, but didn't exactly gently place him there either). He was laying on the ground on his back and looked to be trying to sit up when he DEFINITELY got tasered (you mention the noise, I heard that from where I was standing). Now the concerning issue to me isn't the ejection, its really the use of the taser. Having seen the moments immediately leading up to the use of the taser (though not the beginning of the altercation), the kid wasnt trying to fight the police or escape. He was really just trying to sit up.
So I take issue with saying the taser wasnt used. It definitely was. I tend to agree that we are guests in Yankee Stadium and should act accordingly, but in this instance I think the NYPD acted inappropriately in using the taser. There was no need for it.
NO taser was used...FACT. Stop it already and drop this nonsense before the TR gets embarrassed even more.
