He wants what Giovinco got. Probably a dollar more.

I wonder if, at some level, MLS "people" are just looking at Serie A and saying, why can't we raid this damn league?

Remember too, that is AU$10 million, which is about US$7.7 million.

Which is prob about what we'd figure he'd ask for anyway..but if they aren't prepared to pay that, then it's Juve or MLS.

A few thoughts on that. There's a couple Serie A teams that spend a crap load of money, it's either them, the PL or Germany. Italian players seem to play best in the Italian system which is a very technically correct system. They don't adapt well to other systems that quick so they mostly stay in Italy. A lot of foreign players go to Serie A and complain that it's hard work practice wise to play that way. A knock on MLS is that they try and play a technically correct system as well. I think Italian players will adapt well to playing here. With the big Italian clubs having all the money it makes it very hard for the lower level teams to keep good young talent. Giovinci is a big success story for the league and you know that Italian players are watching. I said the other day that Alberto Aquilani switching to Gio's agent cause he wants to play here is very telling. All that needs to happen is a few more players come here and have success on the field and with their contract..you will see MLS as a major option. Then that's when we start to become a top league.

We will never be a top league in the world because of UEFA Champions League.

But we should be able to rival Serie A. And we should become the BEST league in North and South America. 15 more years.

MLS is technically correct? I like it, but 7 million dollar players getting hacked down by 50K players doesn't look technically correct to me.

I meant that the soccer played here is like it was from the "how to play soccer" book. Not talent level, just game play. Sound technique, skill and game play is what's happening here. It's not creative of inventive. Serie A is almost the same, though they have been pushing towards a more attacking style of play lately. That doesn't eliminate that this league has a ton of hacks in it. Jeez, look at Villa...he got hacked by his own teammate lol.

That's true, but we will never play in the CL, so can't worry about that. The hope that we eventually have anything remotely close to equalling the level of play in the CL is not going to happen. This league will grow when the good South American players come here too. If that happens, it will further deplete the South American leagues, so the competition would be lacking.

The best chance we have, I believe, is that with better talent in MLS, that American players will slowly become better and better. If the league grows, maybe they create a global tourney between the World Cup wait. So you'd have the best teams every 4 and the best countries every 4. It's almost a pipedream, but with the right leadership, it's possible.

We become the top league when the cap is $40 million

So Juve is looking at Isco to replace Pirlo...2nd choice Oscar. If Pirlo decides to leave. So. To me that means Pirlo hasn't made his mind up and if Allegri knew he was coming back...he wouldn't be talking about Isco replacing him.

I'm starting think all of this Pirlo nonsense is to distract fans from the fact that Lampard is still not here and there isn't anything new with regards to a stadium.

Why would Barca let Isco go? Boggles my mind to see him included in transfer rumors.

Oscar makes more sense. Mourinho is ruthless and wants Messi.

You mean Madrid...but regardless Isco is a monster pick up if Juve was actually able to pull it off. I'd take him over Oscar, they can play Isco deep like they did Pirlo.

I'm an idiot. Yes I would have meant Madrid. But I didn't even read your comment as Isco. I read it as Iniesta. Long fucking day here at the office. My bad.

Isco actually makes EVEN LESS sense. He's like 23 right? I guess Madrid could just go out and buy a Pogba or Gotze, although I'm not sure either player is necessarily better.

He might be. But Isco is quietly one of the brightest stars in Europe as well. Just doesn't get the publicity because he's probably the 4th best player on his team and his hair isn't two colors.

Another one heavily linked to city seen as the long term replacement for Silva.
