I don't think Khedira is a direct replacement for Pirlo.

Good point. It is also possible however that Vidal gets switched to the CM position (replacing Pirlo) leaving Khedira in DCM.

I think in MLS, everyone needs another scorer - even squads like Dallas and Seattle who are fun to watch. With the way defense is played, an attacking player can transform a team quickly.
