no way the League pays 10 Million for a player that doesn't put butts in the seats

Well to be fair, I think he would eventually put butts in seats. New york will follow a team if it wins, I think he would make this a winning team for sure.

But your prob right. If its 10 million it has to be a recognized name. It would just be cool cause I love watching that guy play.

I don´t think so! He had a very solid game, but I don´t think he´s that good. It´s the World Cup hype!

true, tim howard is way better. I could see tim doing a kasey keller type of thing, coming to the league to his hometown when his contract is up and playing as a non dp. And I think he would choose us instead of red bulls.

He already played for Red Bulls.

Ochoa has been very good in France.

It's the Jorge Campos effect.

he played for the metrostars. Although red bull bought that team out, I feel like it is two separate teams. I was a follower of metrostars as a kid, not so much red bull though. Wonder if howard feels the same.

He left Ajaccio because they got relegated, otherwise he played in Ligue 1 the last 3 years.

Check out his game against PSG.

Kreis should jot some players from the Iranian defense down on his shopping list. They have been stellar in this World Cup so far! Even holding out against star studded Argentina and almost got a draw, while there whole teams combined value is probably lower than the cheepest player of the Gauchos. I got pure admiration for them and wish them the best of luck to advance out of their group.

Good post - I think some of that has to do with parking the bus, but I was impressed by their Center Backs as well.

Yeah. It's really more the result of their manager's discipline rather than the individual players. Still, they have done very well.

Maybe around the end of the group stage we may start hearing things about players non Xavi or Lamps.

But after the WC, its usually a feeding frenzy.
A lot of that is down to perception given that it is a shortened period in which to do business, but the tournament certainly helps to initiate bidding wars.

It will be interesting how the well some of the clubs with players from the over-performing smaller nations will manage holding on to their players (or grabbing the money being offered, as the case may be).
