The only legit Dp rumors I have seen are Gareth Barry, Gilardino and Lampard. Barry would be a better signing than Lampard btw.
I agree, Barry has far more left in the tank and would be a good anchor for the attack. While Lampard would still be good, he is never going to be happy sitting back for most of the match in his final years.

Xavi isn´t going to Middle East anymore! That´s what I´ve heard.
no way?? You have a link to that?

Maybe NYCFC swooped in and gave him a better offer. Xavi and Villa would be mouthwatering...

I heard manchester united are making an offer. But I doubt Xavi would want to play for another european team.

GOOD lord the unholy things I would do to get Xavi on this team.

exactly. He would be a solid signing. If we sign him I would like to sign a more attacking minded midfielder to play in front of him, and then a solid MLS quality defensive midfielder next to him.

is this a legit source or nah? It is posted 6 hours ago.

here is a horrible google translation.

Xavi Hernandez will not play in Qatar. No except surprise. Problems related fees that some brokers have moved the operation broken for now, the covenant that had closed the footballer Terrace with Al-Arabi. This lets you halt dry for now, no equipment, although the agent and the environment have become a footballer knocking the New York City of David Villa to try his arrival in MLS with his friend and former teammate at FC Barcelona.

As newspaper account that the origin of this whole mess is linked to the high commissions intermediaries process now would claim the footballer to be closed signing.

In fact, the Madrid newspaper says Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona former person with professional ties in this country's oil wealth, as the main responsible for this whole mess.

The problem is that now the New York City seems to accept the transfer of Xavi. This franchise of Manchester City in the U.S. and was contacted earlier this year with the player for it to be part of his new project. A project that will be led by what was, until now, CEO of Manchster City, Ferran Soriano, the former FC Barcelona manager was precisely Laporta and candidate to succeed to the presidency in 2010.

Soriano will now refuse to sign the midfielder, although not a closed option. The arrival of Frank Lampard (Chelsea ex) would be complicated both midfielders on the same campus. To reach an agreement, Xavi also play a game in Australia as will happen to Villa.

In any case, the player will soon announce his retirement from international football and his departure from the club, which technically would leave without a team at 34 years of age, but surely not lack 'brides' who knock on your door to acquiring his services.

El Economista is not a bad source but as there are no quotes I wouldn't take it as anything more than speculations based on rumour.

It basically says that the fees demanded by the agents have caused the negotiations to breakdown and the NYCFC may not further pursue him as he previously rejected them for the Al-Arabi deal. It goes on to say that Lampard may already be signed pending announcement and they may not wish to have Xavi as their last DP signing (though, they do not use that term).

As I said, until I see something more substantial I will assume this is just a tactic by Al-Arabi.

I´m trying to find a solid source about that! What i´ve been reading out there are just speculations. As soon as I find it I´ll post in here!

I wish He would come too, however I don´t know if things will work out having Xavi and Lampard together. No doubt it would make NYCFC not only one of the favourites but the favourite (by far) team to win MLS.

Lampard isn't 100 percent sure yet. Xavi would be the better signing. Lets hope! Way more people will come to see xavi thank lampard.

Now that Spain are out (I've just finished my Rioja-swigging mourning period) rumours regarding many of our players will become more plentiful. Xavi is a hot property, though probably not for any team aspiring to glory in the European top flight. The next few weeks should be fun, if nothing else.

I still think that we might retire, however I´m still checking the info regarding the return of negotiations!

Hopefully Lampard, Bresiano, Duff and Cahill to Melbourne.

And Jones, Xavi, Barry and Villa to NY.

:)

would be cool; but we are only allowed to have four DP's here in MLS sadly. Maybe that will change soon. I sure hope so. Best of luck to Melbourne btw!
