The question about the third DP starts at 36:45.

Reyna: "We are really working hard to get someone in for January. There are options and players that are willing to come to us, but... it has to be the right one."

"We have a pretty good idea that the player... is someone in the attacking part of the game, can create goals, can score goals..."

"No names to share."

Re: Altidore, Mix, Aguedelo: "They're all good players... won't comment on players on other clubs. Would love to have American players on the [team]."

Doesn't sound like we are obviously looking at a #10. Could also be a striker. They just want another player for the attack.

I don't think Mix, Lampard or AJ can play #10 very well. I think Reyna means a true #10, a playmaker. Which Lampard and Mix could kinda do but it isn't their strength.
Good point on maybe not relying on Lampard by himself in a CAM spot. Maybe we could do something like this if we brought in a true #10:

Code:
-----------?????-----------
----^----------------------
--Villa-------------?????--
------------DP3------------
------------------^--------
----Jacobson---Lampard-----
---------------------------
-Brovsky------------?????--
----W.Siriboe---?????------
---------------------------
-----------?????-----------

Villa and Lampard would play attacking in their roles, while Jacobson hangs back.

Get Agudelo, that dude needs to get on a club. Not to mention Lampard, Villa, and Agudelo would be the best attacking trio in MLS on paper imo.

Guys, if you think lamps is even close to a 10, you're a goddamm idiot. The end. He's never been that. He never will be. I've responded to every idiotic post suggesting that explaining how stupid it was, but it still shows up.

Watch a minute of footy please, before you recommend positions. Because a person is a midfielder who scores a few PKs doesn't mean they are a 10.

Mix and Lamps are both 8s at their most attacking. The level of idiocy asserted in this thread is embarrassing to American footy.

Sweet lord, kids. Get a fucking clue.

Midas, your drunk. Go home. ;) I'm pretty sure we brought the conversation back from thinking they were 10s.

Now the question is, who is the magic #10 for NYCFC.

So? Still smart enough to know Lamlard ain't a goddamn attacking mid. I can't get drunk enough to make that bonehead suggestion.

One of the Argentinian guys they're scouting?
I am hoping so.

Taking a quick look, in the top division of Argentina there were 3 games there, 2 last night, 1 tonight:

Wed 12/11/14
Tigre 3 - 0 Lanús
River Plate 0 - 1 Estudiantes

Thu 13/11/14
Arsenal 1 - 1 Independiente

Most of those are Buenos Aries teams, Lanus is coached by former MLS legend Gilberto Barros-Schelloto, so maybe Kreis and company had some connections.

Midas, keep your posts on topic. As per the CFG I'm overlooking your tone as "heat of the moment" stuff and I trust you'll calm down, but leave the discussion of CFG to where it belongs.

I think Agudelo could be a decent fit. Still young, needs a club, etc. Altidore would be huge.
Reyna clearly made it sound like the next DP is a playmaker not a striker. Although he used Landon, Henry and Keane as examples.

aguedlo and Jozy won't come back unless they are DPs.

In the article about Claudio Reyna on mlssoccer.com he stated that Jason Kreis, Miles Joseph and David Lee we're currently scouting in South America. Could they be visiting Andrés Mendoza in Chile? He plays for Catolica Universidad. That's the guy that apparently signed with us during the summer

Jason I know was in Argentina. I don't know about the other guys.

Whomever we sign as a 3rd DP will be an attacking player. From talking to Claudio, they want an American "star" here.

Now, is a player like Kyle Beckerman a "star?" To me, the only American "stars" are Dempsey, Bradley, Howard and Donovan. But then you have the other UMSNT players out there.

He is based on Ecuador. There is a Universidad Catolica in Ecuador.
