Just read Columbus were in attendance to watch Mix this weekend.

They are 4th in the USMNT allocation order. Wishful thinking, are we looking at others or what would it cost them to acquire #1 from us?

My thinking was always you don't get the #1 slot unless you plan on using it.

You know as soon as you said that it got me thinking. When does our #1 in the allocation order take effect? Is it immediate or at the end of the season? I'm going to have to do some research on this.

This is the order updated as of October 7th. Doesn't have us listed. So I guess it is possible for someone to jump us in the order if they want to. That being said Mix said he had no idea Columbus was at the match scouting him. So I highly doubt they're in negotiations. He can sign a pre-contract (caugh caugh maybe already did with NYCFC).

End of season. Then all the orders reset based on the standings, etc. and we go from there.

Worth noting that rosters are supposed to have frozen, so you can't make a move officially right now. Although with all MLS rules, that's in flux. Crew signed a player in October, but can't make it official until after the new year.

That's a good note because basically that means that we in essence do have the top slot in the allocation order since the rosters are frozen. So if we were negotiating with the same player ie. Mix we will get it.

If they want to send us Wil Trapp for that slot, I'm all for it.

That article was heinous. He just mentioned every guy we have ever been linked to and put them all on the team, despite, as saywhat said, most of them being DPs, plus the guys we already have. Can't wait until we get some real news. And in bleacher report fashion its slide show, annoying as hell.

Tre' Atkinson (Author of that fairy tale piece on bleacher report) mainly writes about EPL. I briefly looked through his archive and I am sure that his editor told him to just write something about NYCFC. He obviously did no homework on the piece or how the MLS restrict their rosters. He probably finished it in a half hour while taking a dump.

Sort of "puff piece" you get from Bleacher Report. Just surprised it wasn't another toplist (otherwise known as the laziest concept in journalism.) I'm sure someone from this forum could sign up as a regular NYCFC contributor. I would consider it myself if not overloaded by other matters. It would also appear on google news which is why articles like that get more attention than they generally would.

I don't believe you need any credentials for Bleacher Report. At last that used to be the case.
