It's too bad the owner of Orlando is Brazilian. I would love for us to go after Kaka if we don't sign Xavi

Ferdinand is way too old and is declining fast. Only 35+ player I'd be happy with is Drogba.

We don't want to end up like Montreal and have all of our DP's on the sidelines due to injuries.

You realize I was making a joke, right? Ferdie was too broken down 2 years ago. Probably from the club.

I know Kaka hasn't been the best for a while but he strikes me as someone who could regain his confidence in the MLS. How about an attacking trio of Villa, Kaka and Xavi ? :)

--------MLS
MC MLS MLS MC
MC
MLS Xavi MC
-----Kaka Villa

..where MC = Academy loan from City
....and MLS = current MLS player.

Unfortunately, as others have said, there a heavy rumours that the Brazilian owner of Orlando City (I just realised yesterday that they are three "City" teams in the MLS now... Four if you count SLC... It is beginning to sound like the Premier League) is going to be taking Kaka and Robinho to Florida.

So much for that fantasy. :)

How about Pizarro? Free from Bayern? :)

How reliable is this guy?
I don't want Rio.
Thoughts?

I don't want Rio either but the rumor wouldn't surprise me. The fact that the name "Rio Ferdinand" is on the table is going to lead any first year or struggling club to take a look. On paper it looks great. He's been apart of one of the best clubs in the world most of his career, he lead their back field for many years and no doubt he is a winner. A first year club would love to sign him on all that alone. But, as someone mentioned before, he's past it and his head has been else where.

Ferdinand will end up at QPR........IMO.

Fair shout that.

I think he would be a good one or two year signing for a less ambitious club (maybe Melbourne, too, as it plays in a slightly lower level league... For now, anyway) but I still think the other two DPs should be a midfielder and a defender, even if the latter is not a conventional tactic.

David would be a better signing than Claudio, not too sure but he might be on a free as well, back up plan if Xavi doesn't come off.

Agree, David's loan spell for MCFC was pretty good and he still seems to be playing well in Serie A the games I've seen this past season - he's 34 now so might be available.

He has slowed down quite a bit (and wasn't the most active player for City during his spell two years ago). I'm not sure he would be able to contribute regularly as a DP should. If he could be gotten on sub-DP wages he may be worth a punt, though. He would be a great player to have in training and a fairly good option from the bench toward the end of the match if he and a pacey winger could be brought on (overlapping runs from the wing against a tired defense with a deep-lying playmaker who can make those long passes).

Hey all, first post and a new NYCFC fan here.

I think we will see Kreis use his last 2 DP slots on an attacking midfielder and defensive midfielder. For defensive mid, id love to see De Rossi; who stated his love of NY. ( http://www.mlssoccer.com/all-star/2...e-de-rossi-says-usa-10-years-ahead-italy-and-)

De Rossi would easily be the best midfielder in MLS. And better yet he would put butts in seats which is always good. Furthermore, having players with leadership quality like De Rossi and villa is key to having a first successful for a new club. You don't want players like Marquez who are just going to kill the teams spirit. If not De Rossi, Xabi Alonso ( who also said he would like to play in MLS), would be an amazing pick up.

For an attacking midfielder....not much of a fan on lampard. Xavi would be amazing, and would allow us to play a proper 4-3-3 formation.

As for MLS players id like to see,

Tony Tchani. Tchani is an above quality box to box midfielder who I believe is not being used to the best of his ability in Columbus. Being played next to a solid Dm like De Rossi would allow him to get into the attack more often.

Ryan Meara; this guy is a beast GK. If it wasnt for his midseason injury at NYRB- he would be a starter for the red bulls right now. He is also young. His best quality is his reflexes. He showed a penchant for spectacular saves.

Aggbossoumonde...who has had a rough time finding a starting gig, could do very well under Kreis and here in new york. One thing ive seen in mls is players give more when they are in their hometown. Look at mike magee.

Marvel Wynne- Id like to see him come here and be converted back into a rb. If we do trout out a 4-3-3 we need wide backs who are not shy getting forward.

Nat Borchers- experienced MLS CB, who excelled under Kreis.

Chris Wingert- Born in NY. Solid LB.

CJ Sapong- has been on the decline, a change of scene might help.

Others;

Sean Cunningham-LB who used to play for Molde and Stabeak. At 21, he is still a free agent. I think he can grow tremendously here under Kreis.

Zarek Valentin- Playing for Bodo/Glimt now. Unlucky for him he got drafted by lowly Chivas USA. In the right team, would do great.

Man city academy players;

Id love to see marcos lopes....although im sure his salary is high. He would be awesome deployed out wide.....

anyways, heres my crack at a possible starting 11 with some of these players..
