Orlando - Drogba - Dom Dwyer

Orlando rejected an $8 Million, 1/2 year salary demand from Drogba.

They offered SKC $10 Million in the form of a transfer fee for Dom Dwyer. SKC said no.

They are operating as if a 4th DP is coming this summer.

Hey Sepp Blatter resigned, anything in soccer is possible now

No way in the world or in the next world that Orlando offered $10 million for an EXISTING MLS player. No way. I doubt more than a 150k allocation/monopoly money has ever traded hands for a player in league history. Usually players are traded for another player, draft slots, allocation or some combo of the 3. If this was the NASL, they could trade for hotel rooms.

This is what it says:
According to the source, Orlando City offered Sporting KC the most money ever for an MLS player to get Dwyer back, but they still said no. Sporting, knowing how much every soul in Orlando wants their USL hero back, continued raising their asking price hoping Orlando would eventually back off.

No mention of $10 million. Literally, they could have offered $350k in allocation and that could have been the most ever history.

Was just sourcing his post. Had to google to see if there was any truth to it as well. Honestly if it was $10 mil I'd rather NYCFC pay $10 mil for Dwyer than $8 for a 6 month Drogba.

Dwyer certainly would be an upgrade over Nemec or Mullins at this point, but, again, NYCFC has other problems. I am not sure someone even of Dom Dwyer's quality fixes that.

Where did you get those big amounts of money from?

Drogba is crazy if he thinks anyone is going to pay $8 million for a player on their team for 6 months.

Twitter. Orlando beat reporter. Look it up. Dan posted one of the articles. There's another out there. I don't have access to Twitter at work but could post tonight.

The story goes re: Dwyer - Orlando contacted SKC to buy him back. SKC threw out a number, Orlando said yes. Then SKC threw out a bigger number, Orlando said yes again. The bidding got to $10 Million and finally SKC just stopped the charade.

To MagnusPax who always has to be right...If you are going to invest $8 Million a year for Kaka, what's wrong with investing $10 million in a transfer fee and about $250,000 in salary for Dom Dwyer? He has a 4 year deal. Essentially, he costs you $2.75 Million a year over 4 years. To me, that's good business.

As an NYCFC fan, let me ask it to you this way - would you prefer we pay David Villa $7 Million per year over the next 3 years - or pay a $10 Million transfer fee now with a $250,000 a year going to Dwyer for 4 years. Villa for $21 Million over 3 years or Dwyer for $11 Million over 4 Years?

Makes complete sense to me why Orlando would do that - not to mention the link he already has with the club.

$10 million transfer for Dwyer is bat-nuts crazy. And also completely wrong and incorrect. Don't believe it. Orlando is spending money that NYCFC fans can only pray we will see someday but they didn't offer $10 million trust me.

Is it my fault I'm always right about bad news?

$10 million or not. Dom Dwyer, that's one hell of a signing if Orlando one day completes the transfer. The hometown son returns even though he's born in a city called 'Cuckfield'. Maybe Sydney can get him to NY;)

Dom Dwyer is a legend in Orlando. The reason he's at SKC is because he was destroying USL with Orlando City.

10 million for Dwyer, honestly, wouldn't be that crazy for that player in that city. Though I have my doubts that SKC would turn them down if it were actually $10 million....

No way Dwyer is worth $10 million. There's very good EPL players that have gone for less than that recently.

Why? How many Dwyer jerseys would they sell? Maybe as many as Kaka in that city. He's locked up on a 4 year deal making less than DP wages.

Very good players in the EPL make millions of dollars a year. Rickie Lambert is a not good player in the EPL who was sold for 5 Million but has 25 Million in wages guaranteed. Have to look at the overall package - He costs you $2.5 Million per year when you spread out the transfer fee.

Wondo makes $1 Million a year. Is he a bigger get for that franchise than Wondo? Probably.

Dom also said he was switching to the US national team.

I don't know where that stands but if they think he can feature for the national team that would also raise his worth.

Again, I'd be stunned if it really were $10 million but since Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore are making $6.5 million a year IN CANADA, I could imagine Orlando going big for their guy, Dom Dwyer.

Hopefully someone else will sign Drogba soon. If the DP4 slot opens and we successfully sign Pirlo I don't want anything to do with Drogba. Excited for Pirlo and nothing against Drogba but our 35+ year old former star player quota is beyond full at this point.

Drogba is also only looking to play out this season.

Maybe that's a good thing and maybe that's a bad thing. But he wants $8 Million for a half a season.
