I was able to catch the last 20 minutes and Ian was right. We looked out of ideas in the attacking third.
One thing is for sure we need better full backs. Neither Tinnerholm or Sweat can run at defenders or put a cross in. Just god awful at doing both. Pretty sure if they took their eyes off the ball they’d forget where it’s at.
Tinnerholm’s cross at the 80 something minute mark was to the actual post and he wasn’t even challenged. It’s unacceptable.
On the bright side we got some good results from the teams above us.

I bet Portland was planning to rotate until they saw or injury report and realized this was a much easier game than they expected. Just so disappointing to lose like that with basically our entire front line missing except Taty.

Yeah not a great night overall. Too compact in the middle and no sign of any wingers or much of an attacking threat in the final third.

Ben Sweat needs to donate his appearance money to Maxime Chanot for bailing him out each time the attacker ran behind him and he stopped paying attention.

Missing our starting front line:

Mitri Heber isi

Our Mids playing out of position:

Maxi ring

Our back line in shambles:

Sweat Seba ring chanot tin

Instead of:

Mata Callens Sands chanot tin

Stuver instead of Johnson

No one on our bench with subbing in. Medina was our 1st sub, let that sink in.

And we still held our own.

Sux about the streak. But id rather it end tonight than Wednesday night. And Better to lose today than next Sunday.

For so many reasons this was ripe for an off-night so I am ok with leaving it at that.

Dome jousting with Savarese which went on for several minutes was worth the price of admission.

We're they arguing after the game? Their convo went on for a while but it was hard to read the nature of it.

Kind of a tense night too overall - saw Dome flipping out a few times then the police went wading in to the supporters section at the end for some reason

They seemed to make up after the game. The fight they had towards the end was nasty. They had to be separated. And then Dome wanted to go back at him several times and the linesman had to keep interceding.

We are the first team to keep Brian Fernandez from scoring. He was really a non-factor. And we did it without Johnson, Callens, Matarrita or Sands on defense.

ETA: Also no goals allowed from open play.

Am I upset that we lost? No. Ibegha had one defensive mistake and that was the difference on the night.

But fuck Ted Unkel in his fucking face. Ben Sweat gets a high boot to the face and only a yellow card. That's a red. That's endangering the safety of the opponent. That's a fucking red. That's violent conduct. That's a motherfucking red card.

And only 5 minutes of added time. I actually kept track of the amount of game not played due to Timbers waiting time. It was 7+ minutes. We had 8 minutes on Wednesday for no apparent reason and only 5 minutes tonight. SHITSHOW FROM PRO.

Now Dome says he will rotate players on Wednesday to have players ready for the Hudson River Derby. Orlando rested Nani and Mueller. So Orlando isn't going to be fun.

lmao you were counting the seconds on their GK every goal kick, and you were VAR'ing pretty much the entire game, we saw you from up top. I agree with most of your observations, too.

However, I would like to say I am fine with this loss. If there's a team I'm happy we lost to, it's this one. Portland is a great team with solid players. We were missing our entire front line, and played half of what would be a B team. We held our own. We had some defensive mistakes in the back, but largely were dealt with. Our offensive efforts were entirely shit from start to finish, but honestly I can't blame them. When we're missing our entire front line, that's bound to happen. Last game Tinny had a wonderful game running up and down, but this time he wasn't able to properly link up as he has done previously because of it. Plus, coming off of 2 games on extremely short rest, I can't really fault the players, as up until about the 85th minute they were giving it their all.

...The one thing I am SUPER pissed off about is that Dome didn't use two substitutes. Parks wasn't playing well. At the 80th minute I would have stuck Haak on for Parks because, why not? Nothing to lose. As well, I would have taken sweat off and put Torres on and gone three in the back.
...I don't care what Dome would have done as long as he used all three subs. But he didn't. On short rest. with another game in three days.

We were without a sub who would provide us with a better chance of chasing a goal. Regardless of the game on Wednesday you still need to play for a point. Unfortunately Haak and Torres weren’t good options there even with a tired Parks and a Ben Sweat Ben Sweat. That was an unfortunate circumstances issue not a Dome issue (in my opinion.)
