Orlando (Home) - Postmatch

He’s not long for the MLS world. He’s bound for Europe soon. Kid is total class. He’s been the best and most consistent player for us this year.
What’s ironic is how many pundits last year/this offseason said his future was in the midfield and not CB, even though it was his academy position, and yet he’s showing he’s the prototypical sweeper/CB with the ability to win aerials, 1v1 marking, and distribution.

Thought our front 3 was disconnected in the first half. Maxi and Shradi both seemed to be pinned to the forward line, so Ring and Ofori were 2 v 3.

Much better in the second with Maxi deeper and Isi narrower. We lack an edge, somebody who will take control of the game and dominate just one player to take them out of the game and create the kind of forward overload that we can turn into clearer chances. Mitri may be that guy eventually, but right now we're not good enough individually or positionally as a team to make that happen.

Supporters were lively.

Yes, basically this. Mitri has the tool set to be a dominant player, but we don't have any idea how to use his skills (not clear that he does either). If we can get him unlocked, we can get to the next level, but I'm not holding my breath.

Anton has the game winner on his right foot which he shot right at the keeper. Dwyer had the game winner on his head that he pushed wide of the post.

Actually, I think it was off his left foot - there were two chances he had toward the end. One on a run into the box, that I am fairly sure he took with his left foot and hit at the keeper, and another off a corner or a cross, that I think was off his left foot too.

Yeah, you're right. A right footed shot, his strong foot, would have likely scored.

A 7-point week is going to take some pressure off Dome for the time being, but I'm still not convinced. For two out of the last three games we've looked much better, which is encouraging. But now comes perhaps our toughest task of the season, a four-game road trip in MTL, LA, CHI, and CLB. Things can still go very south here.

get DP full backs
Yep. How much for Zinchenko?
A lot of our attacking "philosophy" is working. But it requires elite fullbacks, otherwise you're caught up the field all the time. Or elite centerbacks, I guess, but we're pretty good at CB. A major upgrade on Sweat and a decent upgrade on Tinny would probably be worth a position in the table or two.

Still looking forward to Maxi-Mitritsa-Heber as our starting attack force. I think if they get some time to gel, they can pile up goals to win games.

Ben Sweat was a liability. I am not one to crucify the guy on a regular basis, but today he def seemed like the weak link. Poor crosses, teammates don't trust him, etc.

Sands and Maxi were really good today.

Can Lewis play the left wing back? Might be good to try him there instead of sweat. Play more up the left side and let tindy play a little more conservative. In a back 3 with ring as a destroyer and tindy to help defensively as the back 3 shades a little to the left.

Exactly. And on the first shot, he had plenty of time to take an additional touch to get the ball on his right foot. He could have then shot with power or put in a cross for another player at the back post for a tap in.

I actually think Tinny is playing fine again. Back 3 has helped him.

Sweat blows. Kills us. Maybe I can see him as a backup LCB but this experiment needs to end.

Offloading Mata frees up TAM. Offloading Medina frees up a Young DP slot which doesn’t give us a lot of flexibility unfortunately. But that needs to be the focus right now if you’re Claudio.

I do wonder how many of our stable of wingers could be successfully converted into wingbacks. We hear vague things about how Lewis doesn't work hard enough defensively, so presumably not him.

I also wonder how many of our CMs could play in Sands' role. I think Ring and Parks at least. Maybe at most.
