Potential Loanees From Manchester City

Of course you would. Chris Wondolowski just played in the World Cup and Jermain Defoe was on the 30 man Provisional for England. Of course you would want them.

Let me turn this around, to a point where it matters. Dom Dwyer, along with Wondo and Defoe will NOT be available in the expansion draft. And I doubt NYCFC wants to spend the resources to trade for them.

So thats that.

Right now, SKC have three DPs. Dwyer and Collin certainly are playing like DPs. On top of that, with the wage increases given to Zusi and Besler, they are tighter against the cap.

I don't expect Dwyer or Collin to be DPs here. I do think the Besler and Zusi deals will affect how SKC goes into the Expansion Draft. They have a bunch of guys on the books making between 100k and 200k.

Before the deals, the SKC wage bill was $3.8 Million FYI vs. a $3.1 Million Cap. Take out Zusi, Besler and Bieler and they're still close.

Makes you wonder if the owners have an idea of where the Cap is going.

Considering every loan from MC will equal a int'l slot you better believe they better be starter material. Or they won't be here.

After an academy based team murdered MLS champions the other day, you better believe they are good enough.
Or will the MLS hinder there progress ? Maybe its the U18s that need a year out there.

Ok, things are getting a bit more heated than they likely need to be.

Can we bring it back down gents?

Your not counting the allocation funds they got for winning the Cup or for the CCL plus things they have gotten in trades (not that any come to mind at the moment). Also remember that Zusi and Besler are mid-season DPs, so the cap hit is only half:

In 2014, a Designated Player over the age of 23** will carry a salary budget charge of $387,500, unless the player joins his club in the middle of the season, in which case his budget charge will be $193,750.

This is how they seem to be over the cap but in reality they are not.

Thats fine, as I mentioned before, I just don't want us to annoint the loanees as world beaters and saviors quite yet. SKC put out their starting XI for the first half, but they have another game, that matters, Saturday. So I am not ready to write off SKC just yet. The 2nd half was academy kids and benchers, some have never played in front of a crowd before.

I was especially impressed with Ihenacho.

Not saviours, by any means, but I think earlier there were questions as to whether they would be able to contribute at or above an MLS level.

I think those questions have been generally put to rest (though, I always knew they could).

We'll that depends. Are the loanees that NYCFC getting going to be the same players or same quality as what we saw in SKC the other night?

Sure it's all a risk, but I'm just defining my skepticism a little further.

Not my intention to argue, I just don't think Dwyer is very special. He was awesome for Orlando last year but I just don't think he is at the next level. I much rather see Defoe or Wondo or even BWP then him day-in-day-out.
They won't have Beiler next either. He is gone.

maybe?

So maybe not then, the title is just a rough guide to a thread about how when your tired three voices in your head want to sleep, whilst the fourth wonders whether penguins have knees.

Your skepticism is painful, r u a Red Bulls Agent.

I am not. Just because I don't think everything is rainbows and unicorns doesn't mean I am not a fan.
Little too much of this going on around here:

@einwindir can we merge this with the similiar thread at http://nycfcforums.com/index.php?threads/mcfc-loan-targets.1180/page-2#post-16773
