The EPL has a schedule for you to watch because the FA has sanctioned them to play as a first division league. Nowhere does it say they have to have a 20 team league with 38 matches, but the EPL has gone that route and is forced into fixture congestion.

All the teams have the same ability to focus their resources during the season however they see fit, and if MCFC and LFC are feeling strained, then they can redistribute their spending to raise their rosters’ floor while lowering their ceiling. It’s an either/or proposition- they don’t get to have their cake and eat it too. Them complaining about it is truly a spectacle to see, the Haves unhappy they can’t have everything.

I don’t even understand this. Everyone else is mad at Liverpool for not giving a damn/disrespecting the cup (lulz). It ain’t Liverpool fans who give a damn at all. And how do you possibly plan to have two complete rosters? The CWC required a 23 man squad. You think Liverpool should have another 18 senior players to pick up the slack when they schedule a match within 24 hours of another? That’s just obtuse.

Anyway, Liverpool won. And that’s important for no reason other than it maintains a home unbeaten run and gives the kids’ confidence. That’s really the only takeaways. Could give a shit if we lose next round.

Yea if the cup means something to certain clubs.....let them enjoy it. If it doesn't appeal to clubs with good players, let them treat it as they feel appropriate.
If this cup is important because it gives lower level clubs the chance to play a relevant team, well, it's not the big clubs responsibility to provide that opportunity when they have a congested schedule of relevant games to deal with.

So I agree "nobody cares" is not the truth about this tournament. However, Liverpool should not be held to uphold the value of the cup for other clubs while they have 2 or 3 more important competitions going on at the same time.

So Chelsea have verbally agreed to sign hakim ziyech from Ajax in the summer. It's being treated like a done deal by the social media of both sides. i feel like this happens all the time its just we dont hear it publicly for all signings. also for certain cases FIFA allows player with 6 months left on contract to make a deal with another team even if he stays the remainder of the 6 months.

Whatever the case is I don't like it. How am I supposed to root for a player knowing he's definitely on another team (possibly one I rather don't like) next season? Also how do I not doubt his commitment/effort to the team if he already has a sweet contract elsewhere?

its part of the game man, plenty of times you see players around the world not giving effort and could be number of reasons including knowing they going somewhere else.

i personally dont really get attached to players, they play in my team great, if they want to go then go.

Was a little annoyed with the end of Everton-United. I get the VAR call but just ugghh and I don't think Ancelloti deserved a post game Red unless he really directly insulted the ref with filthy threatening or obscene language which doesn't seem his style.

I know there are injuries to factor in but more impressed with Ancelotti's Everton than Jose's Tottenham so far.

There is no way that should be offside. The guy on the ground had nothing to do with the play at all. Just completely ridiculous.

this play fell under the "interfering with the opponent" offense of an offsides player in the active play area.

given the letter of the law, refs had no choice but to call the offsides based on siggurdson interfering with de gea. it's a shitty situation and subjective call based on the ref, but as long as they are consistent with how they call it, it should be fine. it's when they get inconsistent with how they interpret the letter of the law, that's when it gets ugly.

based on the law, siggurdson (i know i'm butchering his spelling) was close enough to de gea and to the ball so as to distract de gea. being that he's the keeper and the goal is right there, i think a modicum of distraction is sufficient to call the offsides. you could also say siggurdson prevented de gea from acting on the ball prior to it reaching the goal line, which is an interference in and of itself.

again, subjective call in this specific situation makes it seem really bad. but consistency with interpretation and application is what's important.

Unless he included calm profanity or a calm direct insult or threat at the ref it was overreaction on the ref's part. Can't really see him having done either.
