It looks eerily similar to those Pier 40 renderings. The boats in this one look more trustworthy than the P40 boat. What the hell are you doing down there?!

When I use PowerPoint, it looks "eerily similar" to the prior PowerPoint presentations I've done.

I figure that's how this shit works. Rendering software renders and adds pretty shadows, etc.

Want to know why it's going to be 25k? To make all of us happy. Every time one of us complained about empty seats and the resale value of our $60 tickets, they took that to heart.

You should be thanking them for not building a 40k stadium.

I really hope CFG is not limiting the constructed seating because forum members are complaining about resale value - all they have to do is impose closed sections for certain matches to limit supply. As I've said far too many times, CFG is gonna get one shot at this and they gotta go big the first time - especially if they're planning on the wackiness of Prince Bridge Arena - because going back to the city a second time is no guarantee.

I just wonder, if this is still a site in play... which of the three sites would it be that we heard from when talking to Patricof and Stemp.

One of the two excellents or the one very good.. I was under the impression that Willets Point and return to GAL were the excellents. This is more than a very good, right?

I don't know if it was Stemp's awesome accent or the conviction he had, but he was dead set that a stadium was coming soon. I don't if that means announced within a year or not, or just confidence in himself, or what, but he was adamant that we shouldn't worry and that this stadium was going to be the home for New York City for the next 100 years.

As for capacity... Patricof and Stemp both said it's definitely going to start smaller with ability to expand. They know that people want a full stadium.

The lack of a stadium isn't the thing that season ticket holders complain about the most. It's that nobody is at the games. They were asking us, while at Yankee Stadium what suggestions do we have to get people who already own seats to actually show up.

This is an excellent for sure. My guess is WP is the other “excellent” and the Bronx is probably a very good. Or maybe it’s the other way around who knows. But Prince Etihad knocks both of them out of the water.

Maybe the Bronx/GAL site is off the list. I kept trying to bring it up and they'd laugh slyly but maybe wishful thinking in my brain.

To this point - if CFG really have fuck-you money to throw around, a stadium with a retractable roof is almost a must if you want people to show up year round. Resale values for the first few home games are extremely low, in large part due to the weather. Having a roof also allows us to amplify sound and noise if it is closed, which boosts the atmosphere. Leave it open and nice spring, summer, and fall days, close it for the extremely cold and hot. And then close it if we want a raucous atmosphere for a playoff match.

I may be wrong, but from their events that they’ve planned they have really focused on the fan base in Queens, which would go with your theory. I do know they’ve also done a couple of events in Brooklyn, not sure how many they’ve done in the Bronx.

I think you may be overestimating the popularity of mls, especially once the glamour of a new stadium wears off. However, I could see a strategy where they build a 40k-50k stadium, and close off the upper deck for most matches, and open it up for bigger matches. So maybe have 25k seats in the lower and mid bowls, and another 15-20k available in an upper bowl

Sorry - how do you explain Atlanta?

New stadium, New team, playoff bound. We were the same way in our first year iirc (except for the playoffs).

That’s why I still wouldn’t mind 40-50k, but closing down the upper deck for most matches. Atlanta opened their upper decks for only the last two matches I believe (and the playoffs).

They want every game to be a sellout. They want you to be able to command equal or greater value for your seats when you can't attend. They want demand to be higher than supply. It's that simple.

You don't build a $500 Million stadium to tarp off the upper deck for the game against Colorado. NO BUSINESS would do that. Waste of money.

I know nothing about ability to expand, but I'm happy to hear that.

But it's not Atlanta's soccer stadium. It's the football stadium rented out by the soccer team. They built a 71k stadium for the football franchise. They got the stadium built because they were able to add 17+ dates a year for another propose.

The upper decks in Atlanta are there for Sunday's vs the Saints. Not Wednesday night vs D.C. United

how the hell.
logistic nightmare. think about it. you would need pillars tosupport the structure of the stadium within the waterway itself, so how would vessels go from the east river inward?
Am I the only one that got more excited to see Scouse posted than about a stadium rendering?

NYCFC_Dan NYCFC_Dan What was the traffic like today compared to usual. I'm especially interested in page loads.

Kind of funny that an owner/admin? Of another soccer forum dropped it here instead of his own site.

Compared to last Monday...
187% increase in visitors
108% increase in Page Views

He's been a member here for a while. Perhaps not wanting that to be where the info was 'leaked' but at the same time I can't speak for whether or not it was posted there as well.
