CFG has worked with this architecture company before and they recently opened up a New York office. It's possible we gave the Islanders a bit of a "discount" for some help in Albany.
Smoke, but probably impossible to prove.
 
Below grade means you walk in on street level and are already halfway up the stands. It's a good approach. Easier in and out.

Florida Field in Gainesville - aka The Swamp - is like that. That's because it was built on a depression in the ground. The bottom half of the stadium is just concrete on ground.

Works great. Have never understood why more stadiums aren't done the same way.
