In 180 minutes Mix has 1 goal and 2 assists. Last season, with 2073 minutes, Mix had 3 goals and 1 assists. See you happens when you put a player in his favored and natural position. Mix is going to have a 10 goal / 10 assist season most definitely.

I'd also nominate him for MLS Comeback Player of the Year. The award is presented to "a player who showed impressive improvement after overcoming a serious injury or medical condition or after a previous slump in the career." I would call Jason Kreis a medical conditional.

I hope that Mix doesn't mind putting on of these in the living room...we have to work on Khiry's first touch for NYCFC and America.

Is it bad that I am more than a little tempted to buy one of these for myself, just so I can have a great touch for kicking it around with my unborn children?

Don't sell yourself short, there could be a couple of MM born children out there just waiting to kick it around with you. You gotta believe!

Careful. Sports fans and salespeople the world over do this. They extrapolate from small data sets to produce depression or elation. Khiry and TMac are also on track for 17 goal, 17 assist seasons. Oh, and Mix had the same number of goals at this point last year. I'm optimistic, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Hey guys, how many wide open nets did you combine to miss on Sunday?

I'm so so mean.
This is undoubtedly funny and also pretty harsh. I think it noteworthy that Khiry has gotten more abuse on this board for his miss than Mikey did for his. Khiry had a makable shot but with a defender closing and a goalie diving to close the opportunity. Mikey IIRC truly had a wide open net.

Okay, goals are one thing as we have plenty of goal scoring options now but I'm not attuned to the assists. In central midfield Mix can do his magic.

I hope you are right, but there is something to be said for managing expectations.

I was seated behind the goal on Khiry's shot. The ball was low and when it struck the outside of the net everyone in my section was celebrating because we thought it was a goal and the first home goal of the season at that. High fives all around, etc. The ball was so low that couldn't see that it was not in the goal. We couldn't imagine he would miss it from there. Our joy was destroyed when we saw a goal kick instead of movement towards the center of the pitch.

Just watched the first half of the match and while disappointing there's no way Saunders is going to stop that shot at the end from going in. There were four Toronto players in the box behind our defense and he had no chance as he couldn't possibly cover all of them.

Will watch the second half later.

I mean that managed expectations and reasoned conclusions on the internet are:
1) Not usually synonymous with fan based forums... especially ours! ;)
2) NO FUN!!!
In future I must remember that droll sarcasm is undetectable on the interwebs. My apologies. It was probably too subtle.

I rewatched the game last night on MLS Live and have the additional commentary, this time from a sober me:
  • I mentioned this after last week's game against Chicago, but Pirlo is finally figuring out how to free kick with the MLS ball. His free kicks and corners were on point on Sunday. The one time he went to goal from a free kick, it glanced just off the top of the head of the wall. An inch or 2 higher, it would have at least been on target (really can't tell where it would have ended up). Additionally, there was one corner which Brillant got a great head to, and another which Brillant should have gotten a head on, but couldn't. I'm excited for his free kicks for the rest of the year
  • Mendoza, holy crap. He is going to be good. I know this was a very small sample size, and his first match, so very limited tape on him, but his speed and technical ability are going to be fantastic out on the wing. I'd really like to see him out there for Khiry, then let Khiry come on later for Mendoza or TT and run over and past defenders
  • Bravo is extremely chippy. Other teams are going to HATE him. If he was on another team, I would probably hate him. Man is he physical and after every encounter he seems to be having words with any opposing player and/or the referee. I wouldn't be surprised if he missed a couple of games this year due to card accumulation. There was one particular play near the end of the match where Bradley had a physical foul but wasn't carded. Bravo was having a conversation with the ref a good minute after it happened pleading for a yellow card
  • I've already been raving about Mix (Second Breakfast!), but damn is he good at finding open spaces to exploit. He had a couple of other great chances himself, set up Tommy Mac on the PK draw, and set up Tommy Mac late in the second half in front of net. The Mix haters can suck it.
