He could probably be a great bench option, but when it comes to a young player, I feel like playing time is a very valuable and necessary thing for their development.Obviously he is not going to be starting, but if he moving to CF full time he only has Lewandowski and Muller ahead of him. He would be a great bench option for either. FCB also played like 55 games last season not including friendlies so there is playing time available for him. Ribery and Robben both are getting older and more injury prone so he could be a bench option at winger too.
I think there are some big IFs to whether or not our USMNT younglings in Germany will be getting enough time. If there is a lengthy injury to Lewandowski, Green would probably be the best fit as Müller doesn't really thrive in the CF role. But that's a big IF, relying on an injury and what the coach believes is best for the team.
Also, bringing in the other USMNT younglings, how will Pulisic and Wood fare with playing time. Pulisic got some looks here and there with Dortmund at the end of last year, but that was before the arrival of Schürrle and Götze. Hopefully he can get some time there, as Dortmund will also be back in the Champions League.
Lastly, how will Wood fare in Hamburg? I'm hoping he will get some playing time and continue his form from last year, when he scored 17 goals. But, he's also going to be up against Lasogga and Schipplock for playing time. What I can see working for him is that last year the combined goal total for Hamburg through their forwards was a total of 12 Bundesliga goals. So I'm going to say he should get a fair shot at starting, just have to see what he does with it.
*(Before looking at Hamburg's stats from last year I thought their forwards were more productive. Instead, the midfielders for Hamburg shared a decent amount of goals. Not sure if that's due to the forwards being terrible, or their style of play may create openings for midfielders to get space at the top of the box.)
