USMNT Talk

Obviously he is not going to be starting, but if he moving to CF full time he only has Lewandowski and Muller ahead of him. He would be a great bench option for either. FCB also played like 55 games last season not including friendlies so there is playing time available for him. Ribery and Robben both are getting older and more injury prone so he could be a bench option at winger too.
He could probably be a great bench option, but when it comes to a young player, I feel like playing time is a very valuable and necessary thing for their development.

I think there are some big IFs to whether or not our USMNT younglings in Germany will be getting enough time. If there is a lengthy injury to Lewandowski, Green would probably be the best fit as Müller doesn't really thrive in the CF role. But that's a big IF, relying on an injury and what the coach believes is best for the team.

Also, bringing in the other USMNT younglings, how will Pulisic and Wood fare with playing time. Pulisic got some looks here and there with Dortmund at the end of last year, but that was before the arrival of Schürrle and Götze. Hopefully he can get some time there, as Dortmund will also be back in the Champions League.

Lastly, how will Wood fare in Hamburg? I'm hoping he will get some playing time and continue his form from last year, when he scored 17 goals. But, he's also going to be up against Lasogga and Schipplock for playing time. What I can see working for him is that last year the combined goal total for Hamburg through their forwards was a total of 12 Bundesliga goals. So I'm going to say he should get a fair shot at starting, just have to see what he does with it.

*(Before looking at Hamburg's stats from last year I thought their forwards were more productive. Instead, the midfielders for Hamburg shared a decent amount of goals. Not sure if that's due to the forwards being terrible, or their style of play may create openings for midfielders to get space at the top of the box.)

Well why did BVB sign Schurrle and Gotze? Because they transfered Gundogan and Schurrle to the EPL. I don't see how that really changes Pulisic situation. Reus is so always hurt which helps him too. He is 100% going to be getting playing time next season.

Mhkitiaryan u mean. but i agree. Although Mor & Dembele are also new starlets in the sqaud.

If I spelled Mhkafafafuckit correct, it was luck. Refuse to look up his name now that he's rag scum.

Two WC Qualifiers coming up in a couple of weeks. The final two of the current round.

It will be interesting to see what we do at forward, where there are suddenly a lot more options. Altidore is back and on good form, and Johannsson is back playing for Weder Bremen after a year out. Meanwhile, while those guys were missing, Wood played really well, and Zardes gained experience. You also have Jordan Morris knocking on the door, and you can never count out a call up of Wondolowski.

My guess is that we get Dempsey, Altidore, Wood and Zardes. I think Johannsson, when healthy, probably starts for us, but it is way too soon after he had so much time off. Let him get settled in with his club and back on form. It's possible that Morris gets the call instead of Zardes - and I would be okay with that. It gives Morris some good experience. Plus, LA have 2 games over that span, and Seattle have none.

Agree on Johannson, he needs some time and consistency at this point to get back in the picture. Glad to see him back on the radar though.

I'm guessing it will be Morris. He's been playing very well lately, adding Lodeiro there has freed him up and given him someone to feed him and his great runs. And you mention Seattle has no games there, which is a plus. Add to the fact that he's been combining well with Dempsey and I think Klinnsman may want to leverage that.

Zardes is a possibility, but he's also not far removed from an injury that kept him sidelined a few games. I'm thinking Klinnsman doesn't use him this go-around, but who knows.

It will be interesting to see if Klinnsman uses any of the "newer" faces that are popping up overseas such as Lyndon Gooch or Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Agreed. There is also Julian Green that will probably be part of the conversation now depending if he truly will be getting first team minutes at Bayern. Also, even though Pulisic is technically a midfielder, can never count out Klinsmann playing him as a winger?
Would love to see Jordan Morris called over Wondolowski.

Sasha replacing JJ on the roster
Looks like he's actually replacing John Brooks..

Honestly, as much as I hate NJRB, Sacha is having an incredible year and is totally deserving of the callup. I know he hasn't performed very well on the international stage before, but lets see if he takes advantage of this opportunity.

And on the positive side of things, this means he misses their match against Vancouver, and IMO, he is the most important piece to NJRB.

Seems like a lot of midfielders on roster. Does he get playing time?

I wouldn't be surprised if we see Red Bulls go with a 4-4-2 with Damari replacing Sasha.

Honestly, I'm not sure. Depends on what kind of formation Klinsmann decides to go with. If he continues with the 4-3-3, I think Zusi and Pulisic are considered wingers and the three "starting" midfielders are more likely to be Bradley-Beckerman-Bedoya with Nagbe and Kljestan the top two subs in those spots. (I'm assuming JJ isn't healthy and I honestly don't know much about Arriola and Stanko).

The problem is, I'm not certain he'll go with a 4-3-3 with Altidore back, and it may be more of a 4-4-2. In that case, I would consider Zusi and Pulisic to be midfielders.

Here are my current considerations on what Klinsmann might do (not necessarily what I want him to do:

4-3-3

Wood-Altidore-Morris
Bradley-Bedoya
Beckerman
Johnson-Gonzalez-Cameron-Yedlin

If this formation, I think I would prefer:

Pulisic-Wood-Morris
Nagbe-Bedoya
Bradley
Johnson-Gonzalez-Cameron-Yedlin

4-4-2

Altidore-Wood
Bradley-Beckerman-Bedoya-Zusi
Johnson-Gonzalez-Cameron-Yedlin

If this formation, I think I would prefer:

Altidore-Wood
Pulisic-Bradley-Nagbe-Bedoya
Johnson-Gonzalez-Cameron-Yedlin

I'm also not certain of what kind of form Gonzalez is in. I would definitely consider Birnbaum in that spot, but I think our back 4 is as close to settled as it could be.

I hope he scores an own goal, though US wins that game, and he gets a terrible injury causing the Red Bulls to miss the playoffs.

Jozy to get the captains armband. Bradley is on a yellow card suspension. Zardes could be out for the season.

I would actually like to see a diamond with this:

Wood-Altidore
Nagbe
Pulisic-FabJo
Cameron
Acosta-Gonzalez-Birnbaum-Yedlin

What we will get:

Wood-Altidore-Zusi
Nagbe-Beckerman-Bedoya
Johnson-Gonzalez-Cameron-Yedlin
