I don’t understand how a team goes into a game with the tactics of 3 forwards but a bench that only has 1 in reserve (I refuse to count Wallace as a viable option). It basically says we are going to change our shape no matter what happens when we make our subs. I realize Dome tried moving Medina and Mata up front to continue with 3 forwards, but I don’t think that ever works (shifting players forward rather than like-for-likes) - it never really worked for Vieira and Klinnsman and Arena were notorious for pulling that shit too.

I’d rather go with a 442 or 352 if we only have 4 healthy forwards (Isa, Berget, Valentin, Lewis) since Medina was a midfielder today in Ofori’s absense. At least then, when subs are made, we’re continuing with the same shape and tactics.

Awuah and Sweat made the team so much worse and Vancouver - yes Vancouver who showed up just not to get anyone injured before their Canadian Championship - was the more dangerous team from 75’ onward.

When a team shows up, you stomp them, get up by several goals and cruise. NYCFC seemed complacent at 2-1 - one mistake and yeah they made a bad one. Shit result.

Oh yeah and Felipe is a shithead. Was there even any play in stoppage time other than Vancouver players going down for injury?

ITS was dreadful in the 1st half. Kept getting the ball in the corner and not knowing what to do with it. Terrible crosses, late crosses and slow decision making.

Anyone know who Sweat was telling at on the late goal? I didn't see any mirrors nearby...

When I saw the Vancouver lineups without Waston (suspended) and Kamara in the 18 and Davies on the bench, I thought this would be a multi-goal win. I left Yankee Stadium fuming and furiously disappointed.

I'll start with the refereeing. Vancouver didn't want to play soccer tonight. They wanted to prance around the field and practice diving into the Pacific Ocean. They had 0 yellow cards tonight. The Jose Carlo Rivero needs to show them at least one to stop them from diving.

Felipe is the player I hate the most in this league. More than any official. More than any league executive. Felipe is a dick.

Terrible finishing in the final third. Not enough quality.

Awuah provides nothing on the field. He's approaching McNamara levels in ineptitude. Johnson needs to be back immediately. Taty had a good debut, I do like what I see.

Dome was screaming at Lewis for not defending the Brek Shea cross that lead to the equalizer.

Today was the opportunity to catch up to Atlanta. 2 matches in hand with 5 points back. We lost that tonight and will need Atlanta to fall again.

According to FiveThirtyEight this was the most probable win during the remainder of the season. This just means we'll need to win out at home and either win at Toronto, Philadelphia, or Columbus to make this back up.

Hey, one for LionNYC because I know you brought this up from the prior game: from what I saw, a-hole Felipe acted like he was severely injured, then after he finally went off, he started running around the field to about midfield. He then waited about 30 seconds and came on - but from what I saw there was no referee signal, he just came back when he felt like it. Really??

Is it just me, or did Chanot have a lot to do with that first goal? We let that guy run all the way from the center circle to the top of the box without closing him down, and Chanot was the guy who needed to do it.

It was clown show defending on both those goals.

I don’t like how Shradi was being used tactically. Leaving him on the touch line to punch in crosses doesn’t seem to be the highest and best use of his skills.

Maybe he could have stepped. But the guy shot it on the ground from 30 yards out. Slowly. No way SJ does anything but jog over and pick it up with one hand.

That was not a difficult situation to deal with. I’m sorry. It just wasn’t. That was shit keeping.

ETA: I fully agree about Isi. He’s a wide forward, not a winger.

Ring got beaten high up the field, but what was crazy was it was like no one pressured the Vancouver player, they were all expecting him to pass. Even ring kind of recovered but was playing the pass. Clown show.
