I have been trying out some NYCFC podcasts. Maybe I am just spoiled by the level of discussion that some of the posters here bring, but I have been kind of underwhelmed. You guys have a preference for anything?
I think Glenn is my least favorite guy in there. I really like Abramowitz.I actually haven't listened to any podcasts other than Soccer in the City and love it. The guys really know their stuff and aren't afraid to give out praise as well as critique the team. I think they're quite fair and really understand the game.
Roberto and Glenn have some good banter back and forth as well, but it doesn't dominate the show.
Thanks, just nice to be in the discussion.I like soccer in the city the best.
I don't like the analysis of Dudes in Blue, but it's occasionally entertaining.
There's one that thesauerchise does that is pretty good. That might be my 2nd choice.
I really like Abramowitz.
Extra time is the best I've found. You'll also get some coverage in Caught Offside and Total Soccer Show. The last two are more PL focused, but really good listens. TSS has come on strong in the last couple of years. I was a TSS hipster - started with them when it was like 4 people. Their latest format is great and they have consistent content.I've been listening to Blue City Radio since it began, but recently my favorite is Soccer In The City. I'd also dropped off with the NYCFC Fan Podcast but listened to the most recent episode with the NYCFCfan and am looking forward to seeing that develop into the NYCC Nation podcast.
Are there any podcasts that cover the league generally that folks would recommend? I've not really explored
This is a really good summary of the landscape. One other one that I listen to is Talking Touches. They do a Sporting KC show each week, and then also do a general MLS show. Some good stuff though, as a warning, they do hate on NYCFC a bunch, so if that makes you angry, skip it. I usually just skip those segments since I don't need them to tell me about our team. I also listen to a mix of local podcasts from various teams, particularly in advance of our matches. Ultimately no national platform can cover a team nearly as in depth as the local versions of all of us can.Extra time is the best I've found. You should also subscribe to any Howler pods, Dummy being the main one. And Lalas is really good on his pod, actually. The Mutant Gene is the name. Really good interviews. Go back and find the one with Sampson. He goes into the Wynalda-Harkes thing and that whole WC debacle.
I started listening to you guys. Very good. Don't be afraid to cut 2hr episodes into multiple episodes. Thanks, just nice to be in the discussion.
He is on one of the pods like every week. Also making an appearance via recitation of tweet were other people whom I won't tag giving opinions I don't really share.Starting around 27:50 of this weeks Soccer In the City our own Gotham Gator gets a call out. They were very amused by your tweet applauding their previous show where you said they really benefited from having an agenda and thoughts sketched out ahead of time -- as opposed to their usual SOP.
Gator's was amusing because he has easily a half dozen posts here saying he likes that podcast but they tend to lack focus or organization and here he credits them for finally doing the opposite, and their response proves his point about their usual tendency. He is on one of the pods like every week.
