Rotowire has our starting lineup like this:
G Sean Johnson
D RJ Allen
D Alexander Callens
D Ronald Matarrita
D Frederic Brillant
M Miguel Camargo
M Alexander Ring
M Jack Harrison
M Andrea Pirlo
F/M M. Moralez
F David Villa
That could be essentially right minus Chanot for one of the two listed CBs. Nomenclature of positions is irrelevant.

There is a reason Orlando just signed a new right back. I want to see Mata, Wallace and Maxi attack Toia Sunday if he is on the field. If Toia isn't playing there is a backline who haven't trained or played together and our smart movement and killer passing should shred them.

Good call. This is from an interesting article.

Orlando City announced it has signed right back Scott Sutter, pending an International Transfer Certificate and P-1 visa. The signing comes on the heels of injuries to fullbacks Rafael Ramos, Kevin Alston, and Tony Rocha.

This guy is almost certainly not going to be available by Sunday.

Another interesting factor are the injuries on the Orlando side. They've got a few guys out.

I think we are pretty healthy other than Lopez, although you never know until they trot out the lineups.

Orlando is missing 3 of its 5 fullbacks: Kevin Alston, Rafael Ramos, and Tony Rocha. Alston started most of the season, and Ramos and Rocha both started some and came off the bench.

With them out, Donny Toia (a part time starter last year with Montreal) is expected to move over to the right, where he will have to fend off whomever starts at LW along with Matarrita. The starter on the left will be Victor “PC” Giro (a transfer from NASL's Tampa Bay Rowdies), whose reward is to try and keep Jack Harrison from cutting in on his left foot.

Another defender out is Tommy Redding, who is playing with the U.S. U-20 team. He started about half the games at CB last year, including all three against NYC, although he has been expected to be the first CB off the bench behind Aja and Spector. Still, his absence probably means they can't slide Spector over to FB.

Orlando will also be missing mid Christian Higuita, who has started around half their games the last couple of years and had been expected to start this season.

Given this, plus a starting midfield that looks incredibly soft defensively, and the fact that Orlando is likely going to play two up top, we really should be able to create some good scoring opportunities on Sunday.

4-4-1-1 essentially. We see that shape happen often throughout a game. Don't see Brillant or Carmargo starting though.

Yes. Seeing the injuries has me more optimistic than I had been. I was ready to predict a tie or even a loss.

This is going to be interesting tactically. We are very strong on the wings, especially with their problems at FB. Kreis is going to want to keep the diamond tight and control the middle. I like our strength against their weak FBs better than their strength against our decent CMs and CBs.

Nonetheless, we are still trying to get all of our late arriving players working together. I wouldn't be surprised to see us struggle to put passes together in their final third, even with the guys they have out. I also expect they are going to bunker quite a bit and try to convert on the counter.

I sure hope no one's relying on that for actual fantasy advice, because whoo boy that's unlikely.

I think we're going to see this:

Wallace-----Villa-------Harrison
-------- Maxi----Pirlo-----------
--------------Ring--------------
Matarrita--Chanot--Callens--Allen
-------------Johnson------------

Should I be excited today isn't Sunday because I don't have work tomorrow or upset the game isn't today...

This. Maybe Orlando goes nuts offensively (if I hear one more time from the MLS guys about how amazing it will be with Kaka feeding Rivas and Larin) but NYCFC should create chances based on the outside back situation (and Redding is also out). Other than Spector it's a party in the back there.

It's time to get a win against these guys. It's been maddening that NYCFC hasn't gotten results against this team over the past 2 years.

Yup. I think this is likely as well. Subs wise, think a given is Herrera for Pirlo, especially if NYCFC is leading.

Shelton for one of the wingers is also probably a given - if trailing. Also could sub in another MF and move Maxi up to the wing.

Anybody else feel like there is a TON of options for subs now? So much flexibility.

As someone else said, it all comes down to the midfielders. If we win that battle, we'll be feeding Villa all day, if we give it up like we've been known to do, Kaka will have a field day feeding Larin and Rivas.

I'm nervous about Ring/Pirlo/Maxi. I am under no illusions that Pirlo won't start, but Maxi isn't exactly physically imposing on defense.

While not imposing, Maxi showed a reasonable work rate on defense during preseason. It's not a high bar but he'll add more defense than Lampard did last year while he occupied that attacking midfield spot.

Just purchased my ticket for Sunday. Went down from $110 to $85. Probably could have waited a little longer to get it cheaper

Agree.

I don't get why people even call us a 4-3-3 team. We've almost always looked like a 442.

I wrote this just after you posted and apparently never posted myself.
Actually glad I have work tomorrow...it will keep me distracted and not staring at the clock waiting for 5pm. (Well, lineup anxiety will start at 4pm)

You don't have it already? Do you have a pulse?

Tickets are getting even cheaper as it gets closer to game time for Section 108
For future reference, this is the pattern for every tight, time-constrained market.

If you don't care where you sit, never buy in the 2-7 day window.
