Any Limits On Kit / Jersey Sponsorships?

I have a question on jersey sponsorships. On a typical MLS jersey, I see the kit manufacturer (Adidas), the club badge and then jersey sponsor on the FRONT ONLY.

I have yet to see sponsors on the upper back / lower back or either sleeves (except for MLS logo).

Does MLS have limits or restrictions on kit / jersey sponsorship? OR is that at the discretion of the club?

I believe there are restrictions. It was big deal to allow the front of jersey sponsor a few years ago. Except for NASCAR it just isn't done in America. With the said MLS allowed for the front of jersey sponsor but little else (there are some other small ads but not many).

At the start of MLS, they had sponsors on the back...

But as stated before, aside for racing, where it's a necessity, sponsors on a uniform was seen as something for lower tier leagues in America that actually needed the money.
