Want to hear a cool story about Queensboro FC?

They came and poached the GK on Fred Jr's U16 team a few weeks before the season started. So a mid-season poach of the only goalie on the team. 20 kids who just got their season screwed because QFC couldn't wait 3 months and poach him over the summer.

How popular is the GK and his parents now.

this is sweet hope 5 teams in 5 boro' will be happen 1 day

the problem with that is there really is no space for pro teams stadium. even small ones like Queensboro is trying to do can be a challenge. there are plenty of teams in the amateur ranks but they all end up playing at like randals island since there is no real space to play.

Just watched the USL Championship final and . . . well, it wasn't pretty. It was pretty entertaining, but like most of the USL matches I've watched it was kind of a madhouse out there.

Anyway, I've been of two minds on supporting these guys. On the one hand, not only are they a division below us and boasting David Villa as part of the ownership group, but our Deuce is Division III so they're not a direct competitor.

On the other hand, there's the "this town ain't big enough for both of us" factor. (What I'd really love is for us to buy a piece of Gotham FC and bring them across the river, but that's another story.) And it's entirely possible the USL management is looking to grow into a topflight rival, although personally I think that ship has sailed.

Thoughts?

I personally don't really see this as a "this or that" situation , but rather a "this and that" one. Two team schedules means more chances for me to go see games, and I'm all for that tbh

I read that the stadium work has not even started yet. Also that the coach they hired left months ago and I think sporting director too?

I do think that USL did due diligence on ownership group but it fees like it’s all disorganized in regards to first team. Academy and usl-womens team seem to be doing ok

EDIT: I think the city itself is big enough, but like nycfc they need somewhere to play. I think practically each borough can have enough support to have a team, small usl level with a 8K stadium

I’m a bit annoyed with them. I put $50 down a couple years back ($25 x 2) for two SS tickets. Never heard from them since. My buddy did the same. Keep meaning to email them to find out what’s going on.

Same here. Though I kind of wrote them off when the investigations all seemed to confirm that DV was a bit less wholesome than we all hoped for from our captain.

I think this take is spot on. They just seem to have squandered the momentum for their first mens team after their stadium announcement. It's tempting to blame it on Covid but the stadium announcement was April 2021, so they should have been able to factor that into their plans. Their emails and social media have very much emphasized the womens team for a while now.
