Anyone else find it funny how the Cosmos and their fans are hyping up this supposed "east river derby"? They say we're fake and plastic yet they're manufacturing a rivalry.

Gotta be honest, there is a fan rivalry. There was one from the day we were announced and the Borough Boys rejected us. It's a little bit one sided, but you can't tell me there's not derision for the Cosmos and their fans from NYCFC fans.

Or are you trying to tell me that beating the Cosmos will feel exactly the same as beating the Charleston Battery?

It's totally different than the Charleston Battery because of proximity and local history, sure. But if I'm being honest, I've got a soft spot for the Cosmos. I don't want to beat the hell out of them like I do the Red Bulls.

Me too. I have more of a brotherly rivalry with Red Bulls and Cosmos. I want to kick the shit out of them when we play, but to be honest, if we lose I'll be pulling for the Cosmos to win it all. Would be very neat to see them host some CCL games. Not to mention, I'd love three viable high level teams in the metro area. More the better.

Won't mean much to me. They're a second Division team playing outside the city.

There is definitely a rivalry. They actually play in NY and have a dedicated following. I don't have a soft spot for them and I hope we beat the brakes off of them!

All this "meet us at Mineola Station at 5:30" business though....? LOLZ!

People have got to be joking about this, right? These are fucking suburbanite douche crackers. Do they really want to give up their shot at middle management by fighting random folks getting off a shuttle bus?

What the hell is wrong with people.

View attachment 2794 This is the starting XI I'd go with tonight, what do you guys and gals think?
Great except for Dunn. I'm not sure he is ready to play CDM. Why not see what Poku can do there? He comes out as a super sub for 20 minutes anyway, so starting today shouldn't kill him for TFC.

Also I'm pretty sure that the winner of this match takes on RBNY in round 5.

I agree I think Poku gets the start. But everything else is probably close to the actual lineup.

With the reinforcements coming in this summer, this game will also serve as a critical battle for spots for anyone who may be on the bubble and will be getting more minutes than usual tonight. Will be interesting on many fronts.

It seems likely that we will see Watson-Siriboe and Allen start as you suggest. If that's the case should we start a pool to try to guess which one gets a card first and what min it happens in?
The betting should be on which one gets sent off first and in what minute. Can we double the winnings if someone correctly bets on the fact that they both get sent off?

"We're not going out there as if we're playing some type of friendly. We're in an Open Cup. We're there to win trophies," Head Coach Jason Kreis said.

Bang!

This game is the question of can the best college football team beat the worst NFL team. And the answer always is the NFL wins.
While I'd love to have your confidence, we're an expansion side who lacks depth -- which traditionally is why MLS teams falter in USOC play.

And the Cosmos are a tremendously talented NASL team with a lot on the line tonight.

If I'm being honest, I think we lose 3-1.
