2017 Preseason Thread

We have a better option. USA-Ecuador Fall of 2014 in Hartford. Mix played the 6 instead of Beckerman and locked it down. Defense was fine. Stayed deep and distribution was excellent. Was one of the best players on the field that night.

We NEED a better option before the season starts. 6 is the most important position on the pitch and we have Bravo and Mikey. We will be fighting for the #6 seed with these guys at 6 no matter how good our attack. #1 priority right now has to be defensive midfield.

Um.. We don't have Bravo anymore. Something tells me that we won't be going into 2017 with Mikey as our starting CDM.

I think Kjbert's explanation passes the smell test, in a situation where very little else does.

My guess is that the Club wants to deal him so that they can use the buyout on Saunders and save the $1.5 million, so that's why they are waiting.

I wonder if anybody (posters, bloggers, journalists) that is connected to (a rapport with) Mullins (or another ex-teammate) has ever bothered to ask about the situation? It's one thing for current players to keep mum, but an ex-player has no obligation to the club (but probably a sense of obligation to Mix). The only reason I could see radio-silence would be because the league effectively holds all of the contracts, so while they are ex-NYCFC, they are current-MLS, and maybe there's a clause in there prohibiting 3rd-party scuttlebutt and stories from being divulged?

Get on the line with Stiven or Bravo or someone else not in the league anymore! Inquiring minds want to know!

I expect a lot of them feel divided loyalty to both the team (or at least PV) and Mix. I think this could also explain the Lampard "respect" comment. They might not want to take sides or get in the middle. But it is worth asking them at least for anyone who has the access.

Something tells me we won't be going into 2017 with Mikkel as our starting CDM either.

Depends on his conditioning, hopefully he's been working his ass off. Maybe all that $$$ took his hunger away though.
