I think your list shows that Maxi has been meh, but not a failure at 2M, compared to what our MLS rivals are getting for that price. In that list only Almiron, Alessandrini and Lodeiro are better. And I'm not completely sold on Lodeiro. Maxi has been integral to the way we play, and the way we play may be more on the coach than the personnel. The slow, almost lumbering, heavy possession game with lots of lateral passing, that may be by design. Maxi has obvious talent, and maybe he could play more vertically if that were the team's identity. Also, he has the most touches on the team, so he's been given the keys and we've managed to be 2nd in Supporter's Shield standings, with a lot of injury problems to other players. Maxi's durability and stamina are also assets (unlike, for example, Chanot, whose injury history with us is concerning). I'm in the pro Maxi camp. Not fervently, but cautiously.
