The organization is tight-lipped because they never give interviews. Any time Reyna's been interviewed, he normaly gives decent answers; he's just never interviewed.
I guess you didn’t read the part of my post where talk about Reyna dodging the question when asked point blank.

A lot of people have been sold a false bill of goods.
And they are losing them for free.

Look up Bobby Duncan. Part of a 43 goal strike partnership in LFC U squad. Sat out a year of academy ball to get away from City. It’s not an isolated incident. It’s common at this point.

Hell, Rafa Camacho left them, too. And that’s why LFC got Kijana Hoever, top5 best teenage defender prospect in the world. He saw a path. No path with City.

But how could there be. It’s never been built there. They don’t know what that means. Buy some players, build some shit, win with literally no real fans except the ones who resent what you’ve done to the club.

Isn’t he Slippy’s nephew or something?

I’ve listened to representatives of this club evade every question imaginable when asked. They don’t answer shit even when their feet are held to the fire. Hell, I sat in the audience at Ginny’s last year and heard Reyna spew the biggest non-answer about Gio going pro when directly pushed on it. It’s no coincidence that a unified set of statements are made, by an org tight lipped as hell, about a guy the national pundits are championing on the back of another solid set of performances.
That was a very well-crafted question asked of Reyna that night.

I think these are the supporting quotes you were looking for a while back.

I've seen them all. I don't buy into it personally.

There is what they say and have said or not said. There is what I have seen from Jonathan on the pitch. I'm going with what I have seen.

The conversation could have been, "Jonathan had a very good January camp. We will support his development and hope he can continue to execute." It's not though. Maybe it matters. Maybe it doesn't.

It's really helpful to know what you would have seen as a more supportive quote. No sarcasm.

I guess what I see in their attempts to show candor and rationalize the JLew situation so far is also what makes it seem like mere damage control or defensiveness to others. That's def understandable. It leaves me appreciating the difficulty of communicating effectively to such a disparate audience.

If they only want to be positive without either explaining his lack of time in the past, or what might lead to a continued lack of time in the future, then they can come across as overly tight-lipped too.

I think a big part of effective communication is acknowledging what people may be thinking and feeling about the situation. This also makes it easier to swallow the rationalization, perhaps. If they'd prefaced the rationalization with a "we know it can be frustrating for the player himself and the fans to see such obvious talent on the bench, but this is what we want to see more of and we are encouraged by the progress he's made and demonstrated", maybe both the candor and the support comes across more effectively.

NYCFC hasn't been one to add significant talent in the summer

One other note on Lewis: It's possible they've decided he needs a public shot across the bow as part of his development. Some players react well to being called out in the media -- it lights a fire under them. Maybe they think a little "tough love" will help him.

Of course, some players don't react well to that sort of thing, but we'll have to see which way it goes with him.

Still struggle to see who he plays over this year.

I think we'll see him as a sub, with perhaps the occasional start when guys are away on international duty. Figure both Mitrita and ITS will get those calls, which probably opens up a spot for him.

Let's assume the forward lineup right now is Medina, Mitrita, ITS in some order. That leaves Castellanos and Lewis as the backups. Dome last year seemed to have 2 forwards, 2 mids, and 2 D's on the bench, so it would be a surprise to see Lewis not get one of those two spots in the first-choice 18.

I have fingers crossed for ITS to maintain premium performances, but would not be shocked if Lewis' minutes come at his expense.

Sure, it depends how he plays of course. If his scoring dries up, could absolutely see Lewis as a starter by the end of the year. But on March 2, I think that's our front line.

I don't care how they say what they say. Just be consistent. This is inconsistent.
Word. Would you rather them be consistently unsatisfactory, or would you be willing to accept some variance if they were trying to change things in order to improve?
