We have the most GAM in the league and we signed nobody, get the magno sale done, use your buyout on Jovan, and get to work getting in contributors to the team why are we trying both hands behind our back, when you have 3-4 players on the bench who have no hope of getting in the game that is a collosal failure of the front office, it's embarrassing, starting the season this way should have been enough to get Lee fired, still not having any signing is a disgrace. Do your f***ing job lee

Who scored the final two goals for Atlanta in yesterday’s match?

Signings! What a concept!

This may come off as spoiled, or something else, but sums up my feelings towards this David Lee’s NYCFC. Since Summer ‘22 he has sucked the fun out of supporting this team, while speaking to the media, maybe 5 times. He has made mistake after mistake and left us supporting a team that can’t even fill out the roster 6 games into the season. The best part is the joke is on us fans. We pay for a season ticket to watch MLS next pro player be physically overwhelmed by adults. I’ll never cancel my ticket because I will be here long after David Lee is gone, but boy does he suck.

I'm as annoyed as everyone about the lack of action from Lee, but we've known basically for the last year or so that this team club is going to do just enough to get the team into the playoffs and then roll the dice to see what happens. They're going to continue to bring in young, unproven players from South America or Eastern Europe with hopes that they will hit the lottery and sell them on. DP players that don't perform will just go out on loans, again, with hopes they do better somewhere else and sell them on for a profit. CFG from my perspective is just in a holding pattern until the new stadium is built, and hopefully once it's done, will begin to reinvest in some talent.

Yeah but they aren't even doing that well. We have multiple open u22/DP spots and dragons horde of GAM that could provide serious veteran reinforcement that could give more structure and support to the youngins. But now a couple injuries and we don't even have enough children to fill out a full 18.

This is a popular theory, and maybe it’s right. But the club is trying to sell premium memberships this year. I understand the market for that isn’t made wholly of obsessives who track roster holes, but if this season heads south which can easily happen with an injury or two, people will notice 2 bad seasons in 3 years. And part of that market is made of active fans with money. Who wants to commit to seats at multi-thousands a pop for a team that forgot how to maintain a roster after 2022?

Dang... I decided to avoid this thread for the month of March. Figured I might come back to a nugget here or there.

Absolutely nothing in 4 weeks! Kinda crazy.

Had me wondering, even though we are a northeast team, could NYCFC be a proponent of the Fall->Spring schedule to help with transfers? Or are we just old news and CFG doesn't feel like spending on us anymore?

It just feels like paralysis by analysis right now. They can't find the perfect player, so they're not signing a good enough player. Is David Lee scared of making another mistake? So many high-profile signings haven't hit the last couple years, is he just indecisive?

I continue to fight the notion they're not spending a lot of money -- they spent over $20 million in transfer fees last year -- they're just not signing the right players. This window they haven't signed anyone, which is extremely damning considering the roster construction and the high-profile departures. Even if they're not a perfect solution, we need some bodies to fill out the roster.

We will have played 23 games when the summer transfer window opens. I don't think this team can survive another 17 games of this roster.

An Athletic article a few weeks back indicated there is a split between sporting execs who want to flip the schedule and marketing who is against it especially in the north. I'm pretty sure David Lee would love to flip the schedule.

im of the belief that CFG gave lee a budget, he spent it on jovan/ ojeda/Julian and whiffed on all of them and now CFG says, no more money for you until you figure that out or sell.

but he did sell. santi is gone and there should be money there.

we also have a boatload of GAM that could and should be used. not using it at all is leaving money on the table.

This is a great point. Lee may be in a bit of an ultimatum year. He spent a lot of money of those 3 attackers. CFG could very well be saying, you have a new coach and a year to show us you can win with the players you picked or you are gone. If David Lee had been the one choosing all these players, I could understand why CFG would be hesitant to let him choose any more.

I also still think Lee won't add attackers this window because he needs Fernandez and/or Ojeda to pan out, and for that to happen, he needs them to play. Adding another attacker even if it's a DP CAM will cut into time for those guys. On a well-built upper table MLS roster, neither of those guys are getting more than sub appearances, even with Fernandez's recent improvements.
