2025 Roster and Transfer Discussion Thread

Yeah I agree I remember 2015 Pirlo more than any other Pirlo. I was watching a game on the couch in high school and my dad sat down to watch it with me who has zero soccer knowledge (like me at the time). He was immediately impressed by Pirlo’s long ball passes. He was dropping them like dimes and shimmying away from attackers. I think it was the game where Pirlo got the assist on the David Villa run between to defenders. I eventually got him a Pirlo t-shirt that he still wears from time to time.
I still remember that pass to Villa against DC United. Villa was bracketed by two defenders, so the pace and the curl had to be inch perfect. They were.

A pass that has not been equalled, except maybe by RJ Allen, of all people.

5 o’clock on a Friday for the hardest working man in America. Another hard week of work David Lee. Got a lot done.

David Lee all week: Will Ojeda and Ferendez break out soon so I can stop looking like a terrible GM?

After winning against Philly, our next two games are New England and Toronto, two of the worst teams in the East. Definitely possible that we take all nine points from these three games and we temporarily vault up the table.

Two road games though so odds are we don't win them both, but stranger things have happened.

The secondary transfer window opens July 24th. Historically, our front office does not move quickly, but let's assume there is more urgency than normal and optimistically say we will have some players signed, through the visa process, and with enough practices to be ready to start two weeks into the second window on 8/7. That means with the current squad, including no viable backup for Maxi, we need to get through:

16 - Regular season MLS games
3 - Leagues cup group stage games (July 29th, Aug 1, Aug 5th)
at least 1 - US open cup game (May 6-7)

How are we going to do that with a squad this shallow, and even if we manage to pull it off how are guys like Maxi, Martinez and Keaton going to have anything left in the tank for the remainder of the season and the playoffs?

we have a lot of home growns! a complete roster that can compete with anybody in the league.

Lee is playing 4D chess while we're all just playing checkers.

That’s the neat part; you don’t.

sigh. if they really have no signings on the horizon for this window, this season is pretty much shot right? how disappointing. can't wait for the reactions when the season ticket renewal emails go out this week
You'd think if they can delay signing anyone until the summer window, they could delay the renewals until after the summer window, too.

Just sayin' ...

I hope whenever they bother people to commit to seats in the new stadium, they respond with: I expect to be very active in selecting seats, but I need to make sure the timing is right and I am going to hold off until later in the summer so I can make sure I get the right seats.
