2025 Roster and Transfer Discussion Thread

It is pretty amazing.

Last signing: February 19, 2024

Since then: 428 days, 6 meaningful departures, 2 loans converted to sale

How many can you name?
Departed: Jasson, Magno, Sands, McFarlane, Mijatović, Rodriguez
Loans sold: Acevedo, Andrade
This surprised even me. Part of me figured there had to be some minor role player signed in that time. Nothing for a full year plus is astonishing.

Astonishing is the perfect description. Yet no explanation from anyone as to how and why this truly out of the ordinary inaction is the case. Instead just the usual we play for trophies every season, trust the blue print, we are exploring incoming, etc, which all are unbelievable and inconsistent in light of this. Astonishing. And no fun as a supporter.

The way they communicate with the fanbase is incredibly disrespectful. They talk to us as if we're naive enough to blindly believe their claims about the club's high ambitions, all while their actions tell a very different story. They completely underestimate our ability to be patient if they were to be honest with us. If they came forward with a clear plan, acknowledged that certain things haven’t gone as expected, and admitted the roster has serious issues, the fans would likely respond with more understanding. Instead, they keep feeding us this "we’re competing for trophies, everything’s fine" narrative, which is just insulting.

This is a growing sentiment in the fanbase. I see it everywhere, and I'm starting to feel it myself.

Plus — and I say this as a true son of Brooklyn — don't they know New Yorkers learn how to spot a con job when we're in the crib?

"I got your nose."

"Yeah, right Dad ... " (in baby talk)

I suspect their defense for waiting so long will be that Haak was slotted in as the replacement for Sands, and they didn't want to block him. Things changed when Pascal decided Haak was a starting CB over Risa. Haak may see himself as a CDM, and in the typical CFG player-friendly approach, they had to let it play out a bit.

I still think it's BS. Haak outplayed Risa in the playoffs last year at CB, and even this season, it's looked like Haak would be a CB for weeks now. Keaton appears to have had a lingering injury for a few weeks now. If Lee had gotten this done a few weeks ago, maybe Keaton could have gotten a bit more rest. They can keep pretending like the early season doesn't matter, but the miles put on players when our roster is depleted add up and could end up costing us.
