Does anyone remember what the deal with Josh Williams was Year 1? Listening to SITC last night, it seems like Kreis did not play him as a CB. I know hindsight is 20/20, but considering the lack of CB production we had year 1, this seems like a huge mistake.

He had some sort of medical issue - heart maybe(?) that concerned the team, not sure if a murmur or irregular heartbeat or something else. Evidently he’s been ok ever since so IDK....

Interesting. Forgot about that. Also seems like he full converted to CB in Toronto.
Toronto has a real coach and talent evaluator - and he’s a former CB which helps with the nuances of the position. Kreis was the worst thing that could have happened to many players’ careers.

Yeah, he can literally die at any moment playing. Surprised he's still a professional athlete.

Also, the mystery of George John continues to this day.

If Chanot is 100% I wouldn't be opposed to starting him at RB.

Funny thing is, we're discussing Chanot - even if we get him and he has a fantastic game, we could easily get the PV shaft when he starts TMac or Shelton, because that's just how he rolls. :unamused:

That's actually a really interesting thought.

Somewhat related, what if we have Struna out there starting, and then want to protect a lead late in the game. Instead of bringing on Chanot as a 5th defender and parking the bus (because we've seen several times how that ends up), we take Struna off and bring Chanot on as the RB. Provides a better defensive presence out there and allows him to build a little bit of fitness.

Midas Mulligan nails it.

We suck when we park the bus. We're better when we play possession and it attack.

I'm totally comfortable if PV wants to play for a 0-0 draw in Columbus. That's not dumb. But not by playing 3 CBs and Mikey Lopez.

We definitely suck when we park the bus. The goal should be to attack and be aggressive. We've been fortunate to have the bye and ready this week. Columbus played 120 minutes. Come out and try to score in the first 30 minutes. Then go for the throat and run them out of the building. If we can win 2-0 or 2-1 we can play more conservative at home next Sunday.

I'd love to see Mata play LW opposite Harrison with Sweat and White in the back.

We've been successful all season by playing free-flowing, attacking soccer. Vieira needs to play to this team's strengths on Tuesday. 4-3-3, attack, and try to poach a couple.

That is the MLSsoccer.com injury report which just takes the latest version. NYCFC hasn't listed our injury report yet. They'll probably have him as day-to-day.

Just got a push notification from the club -- they list Chanot as OUT.

At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if we don't see him again until next season. Way too risky to try to bring back a rusty CB during the playoffs. Not worth the risk, especially the way Brillant is playing.

I really don't care if we lose by a goal tomorrow. As long as we bag a goal or two, I think we'll be find coming back to YS.

This. For god sakes score a goal. Losing 2-0 (with the second Toronto goal being scored right at the end of the game) at Toronto effectively ended the series last year.

This team is best when attacking.
