I don't think anyone here is saying Villa will get playing time at LW. Just that moving him over to LW and bringing Mullins in at CF is an option PV has due to our limited depth on the wings.
I believe Vieira would put Mullins at LW over Villa, especially that Villa is not in his 20's anymore.
Wasn't it talked a lot about when Villa was playing for Barca that he wasn't a natural winger, and that he was somewhat wasted in the position? Also, that he wasn't the happiest being shifted out wide so that Messi could play central?

Depends how you play your wingers. I don't see Messi or Neymar struggling to score.
And if Villa never sees the wing then I don't see Mullins getting more than a couple hundred minutes this year outside of Cup play. Not that Mull minutes are the top priority but that would be too bad.

Last update is that they didn't want to rush him back from muscular injury. If it's anything like Lampard, I think they'd sit him. Reason being, both teams are probably of the same mind: "We can beat these guys without XXXX." Personally think that plays better into our hands than it does theirs.
Finally the season is here, Can't wait for the games. Anyone who is traveling to Chicago for the game have a safe trip and lets go hopefully a great season ahead!
