Am I trolling if I post the ESPN MLS Power Rankings? Am I just encouraging what I mock? Can't help myself. Even I think this is worth criticizing.

Yes, the Red Bulls rise to Number 2 on the strength of a tie against the last place Chicago Fire. NYC is 6th, up five from 11th the previous week. This is the result of them overreacting to the RB smackdown of us the prior week. Montreal is also ahead of us, which I disagree with but can accept as normal Power Rankings "cleverness." Red Bulls No. 2 overall? I'm probably in the bottom 5% of this forum in my disdain for RB, but this is just stupid. Truly clever would be putting Toronto up there, but they have Toronto 8th. As I've previously mentioned, I think TFC has the best chance of winning the East besides us. Jump on their bandwagon now as a Power Ranking maven and you have a decent chance at looking smart.
I looked at this one yesterday and decided to laugh it off. I know we are first in the East, and I would have been able to handle either Montreal, Toronto, or RB Leipzig Lite ranked ahead of us if it was well explained (I may not agree with it, but Montreal and Toronto are quite talented, have some games in hand, RB Leipzig Lite has beaten us twice this year). But moving RB Leipzig Lite up 3 spots after they draw Chicago and lose Dax for 4-6 weeks is a complete joke.

I described MLS' power rankings as journalistic masterbation but with rankings like these, ESPN is engaging in a hubristic circle-jerk. And it's not abnormal for ESPN either - their college football power rankings are continuously mired in illogical favoritism and unfounded ascension/drops - rules for certain teams do not apply to others.

But hey, if they want to have the #2 team be one that eaks out a tie in the 92nd minute with the worst team in the league, have at it. At the end of the day, their posted drivel is meaningless.

It's so odd that 3 of the other 4 have all been ranked #1 with LA hitting #2, and the best we've done is #4.

And yet we've have the best win streak in the league and have been the hottest team over the last 10games with a record of 6-3-1. Dallas is 5-2-3. LA is 4-2-4. Colorado is 3-1-6.

Even over the last 15 games we've got the best record at 9-4-2. Dallas is 8-4-3. Col is 7-1-7. LA is 6-2-7.

If we're talking power based on form, then NYCFC is the #1 team. If we're talking about power based on record, then go by the combined league standings. Anything else is journalistic masterbation by a hack.
hard to argue against la if you are going by recent form. 4-0-1 since keane and zardes came back from copa/euros.

With ESPN it gets even worse when it comes to college sports, they generally give a slant towards conferences that are broadcast on their network.

You would think then they would slant towards NYCFC with the amount of national coverage we get compared to the rest of the league.

This doesn't really reveal anything of substance but the deleted post quoted one of mine. I do not know which, and that's all I know. Apparently if someone posts with a quote from you then deletes it, you still get a notification. Which I reveal not to call out or embarrass Midas (I'm not worried about it and I doubt he minds this) but as a notice to others that some traces cannot be erased.
I quoted your post and said something about the power rankings, I think. Basically, I tried to consolidate and not have 5 posts in a row stemming from my insomnia and incomplete thoughts.

It's also a nod to keeping Falastur -ian order.

Secure enough in my manhood to admit that I thought the same thing........
Since no one else has said it, I will. Chanot is a good looking man. For real. Even more handsome in person.

On behalf of The Ladies of the Forum, I will say that we were displeased when the Jorge Teixeira deal fell through...however Chanot is just compensation. Although, I cannot help but think of how attractive our brand of soccer would have been had gotten both Teixeira and Chanot.

ETA: Oddly, I have started planning my vacations for next summer and France and Portugal are about 80% certain for next July...coincidence?

I have no doubt, he will play a major role in our season's end. You can't hide that kind of horrible. As you said, we've both despised him longer than most. For good reason, he sucked even when most proclaimed he was awesome. I saw it because of where I sat. You noticed because your experience with the position. Whatever. He's been shit a long time.

He will keep his place. He will end our season. I accepted this weeks ago. Time for everyone else to accept it, as well.

Eta: this is all bullshit. I believe it. But no reason for anyone else to, frankly.
If we go into next season with Saunders as the starter, it will be a huge mistake. It was a huge mistake bringing him back this season without any real competition at least. He has cost us a number of points this year. To think where we would be without some of the lost points vs Orlando and TFC just to name a couple. Again this is how scared I am with him in net. We are talking about Josh freaking Saunders and him costing us in the playoffs when we are on top of the east, in early august, after spanking one of the better teams in MLS. It's like we see it coming and as you said. I have come to terms with it.

PV said earlier this season that he sees JS as a veteran back-up next season. I forget where he said that, but that would make a lot of sense.

Claudio Reyna said that at the City in the Boroughs - Manhattan event. He said it's a possibility that Josh could be a backup next year. That being said, who knows what's going on with goalkeepers at this club.

That's right. It was CR, not PV. Thanks.

As long as it's an old school metal Allen wrench with multiple sizes. Some of those new plastic ones are crap and don't get me stated on those things they hand out with IKEA furniture.
OG or go home.
