Thanks for putting that up. I turned away and missed the shoving part.

Maybe it's just me, but as I mentioned to my son more than once during the game, I wondered how the hell Colorado went 15 matches without a loss?

Even before the second yellow I didn't see anything that I found impressive about them. Is J. Jones that important? Were the missing anyone else?

They are a defensive team. Most of their wins come 1-0 or 2-0, they have an amazing defense but lack the offensive fire power to come back from behind. Scoring that opening goal was huge. Once we got a second even before they went down a man it was going to be hard for them to come back.

All true, but they have also had a knack for scoring goals late to salvage ties. Key to that, of course, is never being more than a goal down. They scored the late goal on us but it was meaningless.

Jermaine is a great player and definitely gets them points by being on the field, but the Rapids have been very fortunate to have the record they do. They get outplayed a lot (unlike us) and usually are able to grab points on goals like the Gashi deflection yesterday. The Rapids and Union have elite records but aren't elite MLS teams.

I was at the post game meet and greet, and I asked TMac if Howard had gotten any of the ball on the play in the box. He shook his head and said "I don't know" in a tone that said "I'm not going to say anything more about it."
How did that go? I thought you maybe were just going to send your son in (or maybe that was someone else). Did you use points for the both of you?

Everybody scores a late goal on us. We should all expect one every game after the 88th minute, but more likely during extra time.

I looked at the lineup from work yesturday and I immediately thought we were screwed... Boy was I wrong. We completely dominated them! The red card helped

Colorado is a unique case as they really haven't done that much different in terms of personnel or system from last year - just doing it slightly better. Several reasons why they went 15 games without a loss:

1. Defense. I think before yesterday they only let in something like 14 goals in 20 games. Means that if you score a goal, you are basically guaranteed not to lose. And if you can't score, you can grind out 0-0 and get a point.

2. Home field - they've been awesome at home and don't lose there.

3. Several fortuitous late goals to save results.

I don't think they have been dominating play, just executing their system really well and getting a few bounces along the way. They can play cautious and see how the game state plays out. If they score first - then close up shop and secure the result. If the game goes scoreless - play defense first and wait for an opportunity. And even if they go behind, they don't have to go all out as they're never more than 1 chance away from a result.

There's something really special about having someone like JH who can go 50 with the slightest opening or giveaway. In addition to resulting in breathtaking goals and assists (some of which we have seen at the end of these runs) it makes him a card machine. Look at yesterday, he earned that red and that play alone put the game out of reach.

JH posting about JH and not JH.

We were defending corners with a man at the near post (finally!!!!) with Harrison top of the box & TT90/Mendoza near midfield. Quick outlet to TT/M who nudges/flicks to a flying Harrison and he's off to the races.... it's nearly impossible for any defense to match up against in an open field.

Was Frank Lampard's penalty well taken? From all the replays it just looks as if he hit it hard and straight down the middle. If Howard would have just stood still, it would have been saved, unless the force of the shot pushed Howard into the goal.

Consider yourself lucky it was only your first NYCFC beer. I'm probably a few thousand dollars of beer in.

Well I guess I have to drink one or two at every home game now for us to score 5 goals, or maybe only when it's raining I have to drink.

Just keep eating the King Crab Legs, escargot, caviar, and champagne they serve you... And if it doesn't fill you up, top it off with the goulash.
