Drogba > Lampard

Its clear who's late season DP addition is going to push their club into a nice playoff run. Drogba has been helping Montreal finish strong.

Today's free kick goal is what really motivated this post.

He's the perfect fit. A Francophone in Montreal. A man who's traveled many leagues and ALWAYS desires to win, and wants to be with the team he's signed for. Plus he's in shape and not hurt often. A young 37.

Cannot say the same about Lampard. He clearly never seemed like he truly wanted to play for NYCFC. He doesn't seem to connect with American culture. And he's a super old 37, with nagging injuries and a loss of technique.

Nuff said.

Montreal playing like they'll win it all.

DC United playing like they'll suffer another early round playoff collapse...

Monreal nearly won the CCL, and adding DD... It's easy to see why they're taking a huge step. Forget catching Montreal, we need DCU to lose out.

DCU missing the playoffs after having such a massive lead most of the season would be nearly unthinkable.

But it's still possible.

Montreal still has to travel a lot and play a lot of hard games.

They go to Orlando next week for a huge game for both.

Then they go to Jersey, Jersey will be fighting hard for the SS.

Then, to Colorado 3 days later. Hard to score on Colorado at home, at altitude, on such short rest.

Then to New England before coming home for one last meeting with Toronto.

That's a brutal run. A few draws and losses are very possible.

We have a struggling DCU team, Orlando City who we've been better than the last two meetings and NER who should have clinched by this game.

We definitely still have a shot if we perform.

This is kind of a ridiculous thread. Drogba has obviously been terrific. Better than anyone expected. Lampard has been hurt, so any comparison is not apples to oranges. He's getting back in form, and has certainly been terrific the last couple of games.

I understand why some on here feel compelled to criticize and ridicule him every chance they get, but this was one of the poorer attempts.

Wouldn't be hurt often if he played with the team WHEN HE SIGNED, and got the appropriate rest instead of trying to play in 2 leagues back to back.

So yeah, he and CFG deserve criticism. Especially when we see how other older DPs have had a much more positive impact on their clubs.
