Expansion Rumors Megathread

Not to mention they would have the change the entire single entity structure of the league. How would it even work for the players on a relegated team contractually? They are employees of the MLS not the team. Once related what happens? MLS is not giving up single entity as it gives them unprecedented control over the players. Between the minimal value proposition to the owners of the smaller teams and the single entity system I don't see Pro/Rel ever happening.
But we have to shoehorn the f.cosmos into MLS somehow. Even if it fucks what has been built for 20 years.

But, but, but, they're the Cosmos!

MLS will certainly cave and make special rules for the Cosmos while the other 20 or so teams maintain the status quo. You know, because they're the Cosmos!

At least that's what they used to tell me back in the day when I posted on one of their forums.

This may (or may not for that matter) effect any possible shot for an expansion team in St. Louis, but the N.Y. Times just reported the NFL approved the Rams move back to Los Angeles. Any possibility of a new stadium in the city just took a hit.

Or they can knock it down and build a new SSS. If there's nothing to house there it's a waste of space and money. But something there that people want.

The dome in STL is a successful convention center. One of the selling points for the new stadium was that it would free up the current stadium for more conventions.

There will be at least one day game scheduled in the history of the team, thus some shade would be nice.

A friend of mine who works for MLB's Pittsburgh Pirates Front Office told me that MLS in Miami is dead. He's a really intelligent guy but I haven't heard anything as such.

Anyone heard any rumors like this?

Hmm, nope. But I can see Sacramento jumping into the 24th expansion spot with Miami still on the table to become a club with an infinite timeline.
